i guess we can officially close the book on the Pete Carroll Patriots Era (Kevin Faulk retiring).
this is entirely Belichick's team now, i wish him luck.

i'm honestly not that torn-up/upset about this loss. all the things i thought could cost the Pats the game were spot on. this team overachieved all season, and they're well set-up to improve next year (and beyond w/ the way BB works the draft).
good times. bummer loss (again could have won it just as many ways as they could have lost), don't get me wrong. but i'd still rather be rooting for this bunch than anybody else.

i'm already excited for free agency and the draft.
if Pryor, Dowling, and Koppen can comeback healthy that's 3 areas of need already bolstered. bring back welker and branch and you're still looking at a productive offense (w/o a big signing or drafting someone like Wright). re-sign anderson and/or carter and the pass rush that got 40 sacks this past season should be able to replicate things (again, w/o adding anything new). so the team is in position (on paper of course) to improve its depth and possibly be better than they were this season.
i'm not expecting a trip to the super bowl, but as this year demonstrated, you don't have to be a "dream team" to get a chance at a trophy.
Let's face it, an AFC Championship and being one bad pass (Brady to Welker) away from a Super Bowl Championship is the greatest season ever for a team that only beat one winning team all year long.

ugh. this brings back lots of bad saturday morning memories. it's almost worse in-game, realizing you're going to get ripped into the next day for the play you just blew.

How have the Patriots not signed Bernard Pollard to just sit him on the bench and make sure he doesn't fuck their shit up every year? I honestly wonder this.
