The Mother's Day Game is on NESN right now. I still can't believe the O's manager pulled Guthrie.

any weaknesses in this team this year? I have a feeling the Yanks will be playing for the WC once again...

pitching....there's no way Buchohlz, Lester make it through the year unscathed. Also at catcher, if Varitek gets hurt...we in trouble. Colon is the Wild Card.

not to mention if lowell and pedroia regress at the plate. i their slack will be picked up by Manny, Ortiz, #7 and Lugo.

I'd bet anything the WC comes out of the Central or the West this year.
no, i think the central and west will be too much of a dog fight for those teams to keep up with the yanks/sox in the WC... 19 against TB & Bal means many more wins than Detroit/Cleveland v. Min/Chicago. maybe its the ballparks or something, but i just think Sea/LAA v. Oak/Texas aren't as easy as what the sox/yanks face.

eh, the Sox won it all for a reason...and the Yanks managed to win 94 despite getting 20-30 starts from bums and c level prospects. Anything it possible, but the Yankees' young pitchers would really have to struggle for them to do any worse this year.

Offense could be a real problem. Papi's coming off knee surgery and Manny will be 36. Lowell had a contract/career year last season. Nobody else has power.

so some say the pitching is a weakness, others say the hitting is a weakness. they're doomed!
seriously, unless Manny is in the midst of a real decline and Beckett reverts back to 2006, the Sox should be fine.
