his value will drop anyways.

or he could come out, play his usual stellar D and contribute his usual numbers from the plate (which aren't far off from jacoby's PROJECTED stats). i don't think he's gonna get any more valuable to anyone unless somebody gets hurt (i'm looking at you cinci), otherwise all he'll be doing is lowering the price tag the sox have for him currently.

I think the line I highlighted is key here. People have to remember that Ellsbury only had 116 AB's. Sure, he hit .353 but it's really tough to keep that pace over the course of a full season. Granted, even if he does come back to earth a bit he'll still most likely have better offensive numbers than Crisp, but the question is how much better? I think Coco's value stays the same regardless of how he plays. There wouldn't have been much of a market for him last year because he was playing poorly from an offensive standpoint and this year other team's will believe they have the upper hand in any trade talks because he's standing in Ellsbury's way.

this is what i've been saying.

basically, the sox can't deal him before the season starts. period.

so he'll have to keep his job to start the season and when a team develops a need for a great defensive outfielder who could possibly produce a little, that's when he'll get dealt. that's the only way the sox will gain enough leverage to get what they want in return. they're hoping for an outfielder to get injured, and personally i would not mind at all if it was their own #7.

i'm looking for big things from manny this year. it seems like he's going to be playing like its a contract year. after the season i'm not sure how i feel about them picking up his option for $20 million, but i'm gonna enjoy this season from him if he's going all out every game.

FRANCONA singed to 3 year deal. Nice!

This guy is perfect. He knows how to handle the sensitive, high maintenance pussies on the team and the regulars. Like him a lot.

Great move by Theo. This spring is going to be smooth sailing, the only trouble that could pop up is the Coco/Ellsbury CF situation but I have faith in Tito and Theo that it will be taken care of.

Definitely a nice low risk investment... hopefully he can produce. I guess he was struggling during Winter league, throwing only in the upper 80's

i don't have high hopes for him, but its reassuring to see theo go get a starter. i think tavarez and snyder are both very good out of the pen, but can only last 1 or 2 trips through a line up. again, i don't think colon is going to provide much, but i think its a safe move and good move.

Dear god that was hilarious. :haha:

I've been to both Yankee-Angel and Red Sox-Angel games, and I can tell you from first hand experience, there are TONS of Red Sox fans out here.

Hank rules. I think he's partially correct in that the "nation" didn't really become "national" until the Sox starting winning titles...but you could say the same thing about the Yankees. I don't remember the Yankees having a strong national fan base in the early 90's.
