""There's a lot of people talking about us, and we're going to get baited every day with questions about the 'Murderers' Row' lineup," Leyland said. "We don't have a 'Murderers' Row' lineup. We've got a nice lineup. You've got to be careful not to fall for all the stuff that's going on. Expectations are high and it's a real dangerous year, because you could fall into an excuse trap if you're not careful."

It was said by one of my baseball friends, that Leyland is a wizard. And it's true. Motown loves Leyland! :heartbeat:

Leyland's my fave manager for sure. I bet he's a hell of a coach to play for too.

What was he going to say, "I think we're going to kick the shit out of everyone by 8 runs a game"?

True. I love Leyland, have since he was with Pitt, but every manager is going to be humble at this point.

If Granderson can set the table with Magglio and Guillen has a big yr they could deal with a down/adjustment type year in cabrera, though i dont see him falling back if much at all. Even then this team is going to be dangerous. Enter bonderman and willis , now 2 guys i just wouldnt trust . I thinking that as a whole that divison is alot better in 2008 as well.

89-73

95 wins wouldnt shock me

he should be, his career record is under .500.

Leyland seems like a good sort. Does he still fire up smokes in the dugout?

He's a nice guy, but I don't always agree with his managerial style. He can be very stubborn and doesn't handle a bullpen very well. But I really can't argue with a guy who, in his first year managing them, took the Tigers to the WS after 12 straight losing seasons.

Sometimes I think he waits too long to change out a pitcher. And then I find myself pacing the room and yelling at the television.
