Anyone want Reuben Droughns?
==========================
Broncos hit with request for trade
Droughns wants out after 1,240-yard year; back has team OK to seek deal
By Bill Williamson
Denver Post Staff Writer
Like Clinton Portis before him, Reuben Droughns hopes a partnership with agent Drew Rosenhaus will result in a trade from the Broncos.
In what has been in the works since a Christmas Eve agreement, Droughns has asked the team for permission to seek a trade and was given the OK.
The NFL's trading season begins in early March, but a deal could be discussed before then. The Broncos likely would want a first- or second-round draft choice in return for Droughns, who broke out as a running back in 2004 to rush for 1,240 yards.
"I've talked to the Broncos about this, and they understand our stance," Rosenhaus said. "I don't want to overblow this, but this is definitely something we think is in everyone's best interest."
Droughns has two seasons remaining on his contract and is set to earn base salaries of $950,000 in 2005 and $1.15 million in 2006.
Portis hired Rosenhaus in the 2003 season in an attempt to get a raise from the Broncos. Last March, Portis was traded to Washington in a deal for cornerback Champ Bailey and a second-round pick who turned out to be Tatum Bell, the leading candidate to be the Broncos' top tailback in 2005.
Rosenhaus said he hasn't talked to any teams but is confident he will be able to find a new home for Droughns this offseason.
"I think my experience in this will help me find a team for Reuben," Rosenhaus said.
If Droughns stays with the Broncos, he could be moved back to fullback. The team has a glut of running backs, starting with Bell, who became the primary back at the end of the season. Injured tailbacks Quentin Griffin and Mike Anderson are expected to be healthy after being on injured reserve in 2004. Bell is likely to have the first shot at the starting tailback job.
Droughns and Rosenhaus became associates after a Dec. 24 meeting in Nashville, Tenn., the day before the Broncos' 37-16 victory over the Titans. At the time Droughns said he didn't necessarily want a trade or a raise from the Broncos.
Anderson is a player who would draw interest if the Broncos wanted to pursue a trade. He was considered a hot commodity before being hurt in the preseason.
Denver (AP) -- After considering his options, Tim Biakabatuka wants out of Denver. After deciding to come out of retirement to rush for 2,542 yards for Denver in the '05 season, he wants to be traded to a real team with a shot at winning something.

I pity any team that trades a first or second rounder for Droughns. I could rush for 1000 yards with the Broncos.

I wonder why Denver even bothers using second round picks on RB's.

I don't know whether to or at that.
All I know is that Denver was 10-6 and Dallas was 6-10.
I don't think Droughns will draw a huge amount of interest. The recent string of succsessful RB's in Denver puts a stigma on him. I don't neccessarily believe it's completely the system though. I just think certain types of RB's flourish in the system.
Aside from the KC game, Griffin really struggled for the Broncos before he got hurt (his replacement was imminent anyway). The hard, downhill runners seem to do well. Portis was a possible exception as he was a little more shifty, but he is actually a more powerful runner than he gets credit for.
That being said, I'm psyched for Bell to start for a full season next year. He really came into his own late in the season once he got over all the nagging injuries. He's got that one cut, hard downhill style, but he's also one of the fastest players on the team (probably behind Bailey and Lelie), so if he gets out in the open, he's gone (if he doesn't trip over himself like he did against Miami).

And neither of us have anything to show, so I guess we're even... except maybe that we have 2 higher draft picks than you in the 1st round of the draft

Just wait until they trade Droughns, then.

Doesn't really matter... the Cowboys could have the first pick in the draft and they'd end up taking some shitty player nobody's ever heard of because they "see potential" in him... I swear, if any more of our draft picks end up busting I'm going to email Parcells and tell him I'm his new head of scouting
