Sorry, I know I might be jumping the gun on this, but I'm just so excited about this year's playoffs. The Western Conference tournament is shaping up to be one of the most exciting tournaments in awhile, and with Boston (probably) representing the East, the finals might actually be compelling, too! But we'll have the seedings tonight anyways, so maybe it's only a few hours early...
Shouldn't be any first round upsets in the East. Should be an interesting closing night, too, since one of the games is being played has the third seed as the prize. I got the possible first round seedings from ESPN's article, although I'm not sure how their scenario that has Phoenix getting 4th seed but Houston gets 5th and home court actually works.
When does it start? Saturday?
WEST 1. Lakers 2. Hornets 3. Spurs or Jazz (tonight's winner) 4. Spurs, Jazz, or Suns 5. Spurs, Rockets, or Suns 6. Spurs, Rockets, or Suns 7. Mavs or Nuggets 8. Mavs or Nuggets

The NBA needs to consider seeding the playoffs without segregation by conference. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that the freaking HAWKS will make the playoffs with a losing record.

And a potential 49 win team in the west will be out.

This is what I like, last night of the regular season and playoff spots 3-8 aren't decided yet.
And with a Denver victory we could have all 8 playoff teams with 50+ wins.

I know why does it have to be East v. West?
This question can be answered for all the sports too

Well, I know you can't do it in MLB due to different rules, and the NFL would be extremely tough for historical purposes, but in the NBA and NHL the conferences mean little but geography.

Yeah I was going to do the EXCEPT Baseball comment.
Yeah I would like to see it in the NBA definitely (especially since like forever the West have been the more dominent of the conferences)
And in the the NHL, they need to get the scheduling and matchups up right and a realignment of conference/division would and could fix their problems. (or just get rid of Bettman)
If the Cavs lose to Washington I'm skipping the rest of the playoffs. I can handle them losing to Boston in round two, but not the Wizards in round one.

The Lakers probably aren't emerging from the West, but for pure sentimental value from when I first started watching basketball in the 80s, oh how sweet it would be to have Celtics over Lakers in the finals.

its almost embarrassing how much better the west looks than the east. the only series worth watching in the east is the sixers upsetting the pistons
They will be lucky to win 1 game, the Sixers are playing like total shit. they peaked a little too early, hard to think they can beat Detroit after they just lost 4 straight to end the season.
