ESPN just reported that JJ Redick got picked up at 4am today on an 'impared' driving charge. Certainly not shocking or that big of a deal for a 21 year old college kid, but the timing for Duke U certainly isnt good.

More importantly, it's not good for his draft status.

Rome was saying today that he was picked up doing an illegal U-turn to avoid a police check point.

Duh.

hey, maybe it will save one NBA team from making a really stupid decision and drafting him high.

I said, maybe. It was a hopeful maybe. You don't draft Steve Kerr in the 1st round. But Hey, when you suck you suck for a reason. After all the Atlanta Hawks are so fucking stupid they'll probably draft Sheldon Williams at 5 (most think he's slated between 10 and 15 so the ratio is about right for this waste of a team) instead of again this year......A FUCKING POINT GUARD BILLY KNIGHT!!!

Oh yeah Marvin Williams and his potential on a team full of fowards....when you could have had Chris Paul. Ho hum.

We went from Pete Babcock (lest you forget John Koncak), to an arrogant ass hole named Billy Knight who I guess wants to build a team of Fowards. If you're 6'8 come play for the hawks.

the Steve Kerr comparisons are unfair. Steve Kerr as a college player wasn't even half the player this guy is.

Yeah, and that's true, but he wore out every single year, even though he got better at his game. I'm not saying he wasn't a great college player, he was, and he did take over games at times but, The NBA season is longer, he still has not proven in the NCAA tournament against even players who won't make it to the league that he can create his shot off the dribble and he was absolutely non existant against bigger more athletic players, the kind of which he will see in the NBA (see LSU), and lets say he plays the two. Can he defend Dwayne Wade? Joe Johnson? Vince Carter? I don't think so and I like the guy.

Find me a successful guard to come out of Duke since Johnny Dawkins.

what the hell does that even matter? they arent all the same mold yanno, with a different name. jj may very well be a bust, but if youre going to bust someones balls about scouting the season with their time machine, then your balls should be busted to.

all JJ has to do is average over 10 pts a game ONCE and he'll do something Kerr never did.

It matters plenty to me. Duke's system doesn't produce guards that are ready for the NBA.
See Hurley and Wojo, among others.

In fairness Hurley never really got the chance and his ball skills were loads better than reddicks.

The audition to me was essentially the LSU game where he disappeared. Players were much bigger and more athletic than he, and he was unable to do anything at all against it. That's the NBA. Bigger, Faster, Better. I know the guy is an awesome basketball player, but I don't see him ever being a starter in the NBA.

yea, because at duke they teach you how to cope after getting tboned by a car, and wojo was never interested in playing, he went straight to coaching

and from here came the expression,

"If you want to be a great college basketball player, go to Duke. If you want to play in the NBA, go to Carolina."
