The way things are going, though, I won't be surprised to see Duke in a bowl game this year.
I hate Duke basketball a shitload but i gotta root for their football team. They've sucked since Spurrier left and that was like 22 years ago.
I was watching the '94 Illinois-Penn St. game on the Big Ten Network a couple of nights ago and when the scores from that day popped up on screen I was shocked to see that Duke was ranked 16th at one point that year.

That's true.

no way, it was probably a college hoops score. That game was late in the year(PSU/ILLINOIS and cost the Lions a title). Probably means there was some college hoops going on.

It wasn't the Illinois game that cost them the title, it was the Indiana game. Illinois was good and we were playing at their place. The last drive, which PSUers call "The Drive" made that great season into the amazing season that it was.
Indiana, on the other hand, was not good. Paterno sat the starters early and the Hoosiers scored a couple of late TDs against the scrubs. It was after that game that we dropped to #2...plus the sympathy vote for Tom Osbourne helped. Although the PSU defense was somewhat suspect that year (compared to most PSU defenses), PSU would have smoked Nebraska that year...and it sucks that we'll never know.
Back to the topic, the ACC is not strong this year..

Yup, you're right, it was Indiana. I agree about that PSU team , seemed like the best in the country to me at the time(although my memory of this season seems a bit blurred according to my last 2 posts).

I thought this had something to do with the quality of ice that the Maple Leafs play on
