Since all the boxing threads got totally derailed into whether soccer was a good sport and what-not, i decided to give upcoming boxing eventa its own thread.
Kostya Tszyu Vs Ricky Hatton tonight at 9:30 on Showtime. Can showtime gio 2 for 2 in classic fights that were already built up to be barnburners? I don't give Hatton much of a chance, Tszyu is top 5 pound for pound in the world and nobody has given him any trouble in i don't know how long. He looked shitty versus Leija but Hatton is a step above Leija. Plus the fight is at 3:00 in the morning in ireland. Those fuckers are gonna be hammered at that arena. I say Tszyu in 8 but it could be a classic
on monday i watched a fight between Ali and Angelo something. Since the contender aired i've kinda been into boxing. Post in here or pm me when Sergio Mora fights again.
Also, I saw an ad in the paper yesterday for an umpcoming fight in tampa. I've never been to a boxing before. Is it pointless to go if you don't have good seats?

Hatten fucking won, Tszyu didn't want to come out for tghe 12th. hatten smothered him the whole fight and low-blowed Zu in the 10th on purpose. Strange fight. Hatten is gionna make a name of himself as did Ward. Irish guys who bar-fight = big bucks

Anybody else see the Tyson-McBride press conference? McBride's promoter was talking some trash with Tyson there ("Mike's time has passed", blah blah blah...) and Tyson said "You're going to get your boy killed." It was pretty awesome.

Tyson is going to destroy McBride. I wish he would rededicate himself to boxing instead of half-assing it and collecting paychecks. He could probably win the championship again if he really wanted too, but that's really not saying much.

Mike Tyson's career may have ended in shocking fashion Saturday night when he quit on the stool after taking a beating in a foul-filled sixth round against unheralded Kevin McBride.
Tyson lost for the third time in his last four fights, and once again he faded badly as the rounds went on before head butting McBride in a desperate attempt to end the fight in the sixth round.
Tyson was pushed to the canvas when the round ended, his head stuck between the first and second ropes. He got up very slowly, wobbled back to his corner and sat on his stool.
When referee Joe Cortez came by to look at him, his corner told Cortez the fighter could not continue. Cortez then went over and raised McBride's hand in victory.
The 38-year-old Tyson was a huge favorite over McBride and won the early rounds. But as the fight went on, it was McBride landing the bigger punches as Tyson desperately tried to score a knockout.
Tyson was weary by the fifth round and, in the sixth round, he was penalized two points for deliberately head butting McBride and opening a cut over his left eye. The head butt came after Tyson appeared to try to break McBride's arm in a clinch like he once did against Francois Botha and after he hit him with several low blows.
In a career filled with tremendous highs and terrible lows, Tyson may have reached a new low in the loss to McBride, who came into the fight with no credentials.

i admit i WAS one of those "tyson marks" that always thought he could regain the heavyweight titles but tonight was ridiculous. im glad my buddy was the idiot that spent 50 bucks and not me
