Great start by the Americans and it's going to be hard to wrestle the initiative back.

I will say, however, that there is no place in golf for some of the crowd rubbish that is going on. You've got Boo being a hillbilly and urging the crowd to make noise when Europe is still to putt, you've got Zinger actually telling the crowd to clap for missed putts (I don't particularly disagree but leave them to make their own minds up) and other nonsense. There is noone I hate more than the 'get in the hole' brigade. It's awful.

Another thing that makes me laugh is the wives of the American team. You've got two of the biggest hicks in the world in Boo and JB walking around with blonde bombshells and Anthony Kim, who looks like a frog, parading a similar beauty. Makes me wish i'd worked more on my swing.

If Phil Mickelson keeps this up, he should be barred from any more Ryder Cup teams, no matter what his ranking or how well he does on the tour. He is the proverbial choke job.

and sergio just did the same thing when stricker still had a put left. so its not just the americans. i guess the ryder cup is just a different beast.

weekley is the definition of hick. and isnt this being played in Kentucky? lol. its one thing to celebrate your own putt. but to celebrate and egg on the home crowd to cheer after your opponent misses his putt right after your make. :? i love the way Westwood stares his ass down and replies with shots of his own though. good stuff.

Ok let me qualify that by saying Europe did it last time on their soil as well. Not completely fair to just pin on USA.

Anthony Kim is going to break someone's fingers with a high five - probably one of the older guys.

Hey Johnny Come Lately, perhaps you'll notice the time of that post and the mention of if he "keeps this up." :shake:

I said before today that Faldo putting out Harrington and Westwood would be a poor move and it proved to be so. When you're 2 down, you need to go out early and get ahead then let momentum run its course.

I know Harrington and Westwood both lost but you've got to get them out early and put the acid on. Sergio was awful against Kim and i've got no doubt Westwood would've cleaned up Mahan.

In saying that, how good were America early...two guys (Perry and Weekley) shot 29s on the front nine and I think Kim had 30. That's huge.

I'd also say Azinger outplayed Faldo - who doesn't care about anyone but Nick Faldo so is a bad choice as a captain - and the crowd definitely made a difference.

I agree. If Europe were 2 ahead going into the singles I could understand Westwood and Harrington being the last two but Europe needed to win 3 of the first 4. I thought Casey should have won; he made a mess of 15 when Mahan was in trouble.

But as you say Deano the Americans posted some amazing scores which few golfers could have lived with. The key match was Garcia v Kim. Europe needed to win that or at least get a half.

Fast forward to 2012 and suddenly this entire country, who has never given one bit about golf, is obsessed by our new boy who seems to be pretty good at putting a ball in a hole. I watched a bit last night and I don't understand the first thing of it. :|

Yeah colsearts is playing the best of anyone in the cup so far. He schooled Tiger yesterday.

I'm enjoying the mickelson/Bradley combo.

That was some comeback. They interviewed lots of what could only be described as jocks on the news, giving it the whole 'USA!' bit and saying they were gonna destroythe European team. Funny how it turned out. McElroy is some man :)

Incredible win by the Euros. That was one of the best Cups I've watched. Not the outcome I wanted, but the Euros definitely earned. Huge clutch putts at the right time, complemented by bad US mistakes at the wrong time.

Btw, Graeme McDowell has a great looking girlfriend.

Oh yeah, well, if they played 16 holes yesterday the Americans would have kicked Europe's butt! :)
