Introducing, Your Miami Marlins!!! :haha:

Quote:
A source told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that the Marlins, Miami-Dade County, the city of Miami and Major League Baseball reached agreement late Friday to finance a $515 million ballpark at the site of the Orange Bowl.
The deal calls for the county and city to contribute $360 million mainly in tourist taxes and a $50 million general obligation bond Miami-Dade voters approved in 2004 to renovate the Orange Bowl, but which will instead be moved to the ballpark project. The Marlins are to contribute $155 million. If this all gets worked out, the renamed Miami Marlins would likely begin play in their new park in 2011.

Loria should finance the whole thing since he's obviously not spending any money on players...

A bit worried about Detroit knocking off your Red Sox, huh?

Did you just randomly pick the Tigers to put in the header, or was there a reason?

So, why do they suck? And are they the only team who had an overrated offseason? Sounds to me like there are other reasons involved.

I'm sure it's to annoy that one Detroit guy that posts in all the Boston threads.

Yeah adding Miguel Cabrera, Dontrelle Willis, Edgar Rentaria and Jacque Jones pails compared to what Boston did, lost Curt Schilling to injury and didn't get Santana. But you did add the Mayor, Sean Casey.

i was more thinking of what the mets did. forgive me for not being intimidated by a 4th starter, a re-tread SS and Jacque Jones?!!!

I like the additions of Miggy and Renteria. Can't say the same about Willis and Jones.

Why any team would still pay Sean Casey to play baseball is beyond me.

I was listening to Don Mattingly on the radio last week explain a conversation he had with Jim Leyland. Mattingly told him to be weary of his lineup becomming homer happy, as in one guy swinging for the fences thinking if he K's or makes an out the next guy up will make up for it. then the next guy up does the same thing and suddenly youve got an entire lineup in a slump. Mattingly said he saw it happen to some of the yankee teams he coached.

never thought of that. pretty good insight form Donnie B. I think if he eventually takes over for Joe Torre in LA hes going to be very successful

i don't get it either.

i'd have to list the top offseason's as such:

1) Mets (acquired the best pitcher in baseball)
2) Diamondbacks (their rotation will be amazing)
3) Yankees & Red Sox (tie b/c both almost traded away their futures and made the right non-moves)
4) Tigers (Cabrera's great and all, but was offense a problem?)
5) Mariners (Opposite of the Tigers... Bedard's great, but offense was the problem)

questionable offseasons:

1) Angels (bring in torii hunter & jon garland?)
2) White Sox (swisher & cabrera?)

better rebuilding job:

A's or Twins? (i'd pick the twins as of right now, but the A's aren't finished)

To say the Red Sucks and the Yankees had a better offseason than the Tigers is fucking insane.
