Manny is done with the Dodgers. The thought of Peavy or Sabathia in the rotation makes me excited, the thought of both of them...

you never know with these guys. on the one hand, when Manny got to LA he said he hated playing in Boston where every game was do or die and the fans were insane, and he enjoyed the easy going LA atmosphere. NY would be more of the same insanity

on the other he's let it be known that hed love to be able to play the red sox 18 times a year as a yankee (earlier in the year I think, i dont think he said this when he got to LA)

What comes out of Manny's mouth doesn't mean shit. Ever.

I don't think pitching was your problem this year, just like i didn't think hitting was Detroit's problem last year when they got Cabrera. So i think losing Manny would be the wrong decision. But i don't think they'll poney up the years for him. That being said, I don't see Manny getting more than 3-4 years. Mets have already said that bullpen and starting rotation is priority. And the yankees don't want him. I could see LAA going after him if they can't sign Texiera which is a possibility.

If i had to guess right now,

Yankees - Texiera, Burnett
Angels - Manny, K-Rod (less money than what he wants)
Dodgers - Sabathia, Furcal
Mets - Fuentes, Sheets, Abreu
Red Sox - Lowe
Phillies - Burrell
Cubs - Dempster, Ibanez
White Sox - Hudson, D. Reyes, Garland

I'm also imagining LAA trading with the White Sox acquiring Dye/Konerko (to play first) and Vazquez for Willits/ Figgins and GMJ. With the Angels getting power at 3rd (Blake/Crede).

Lowe has said he wants to play for Boston.

Since when did the White Sox become trading partners with the Universe of Milky Way of Solar System of Earth of Northern Hemisphere of North American of United States of California of New York of Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim?

they've been pretty good matches these last couple of years despite the attempted snag of Konerko a couple years ago, and the suceeded snag of big gay Torii Hunter.

White Sox opted out of the Griffey contract. I hope he ends up on a good team, one that will contend for a playoff spot.
Also, Mike Jacobs traded from the Marlins to the Royals.

Initially, I always think the richer will just get richer... meaning the teams:

Yankees: Texiera, Cameron, Sheets
Sox: Burnett, Tazawa
Tigers: Varitek
Angels: K-Rod
Dodgers: CC, Furcal
Mets: Manny, Lowe, Fuentes
Cubs: Roberts, Dempster
ChiSox: Hudson, Garland
Phillies: Burrell

I'd welcome him back, but I don't think Boras isn't gonna let him sign for anything less than top dollar

The only thing that is going to get Varitek any real money is the fact that the Sox made him the team captain a few years ago. Noone else is going to sign the guy.

Manny with the Jays... hmm... I don't like him cause he's a jackass, but he's killed the Jays over the last decade or so, especially in Toronto. It would be interesting to see what he could do if he played there 81 times a year... although I do like the youth they've got right now with Lind/Snider in right.

If Burnett walks, the Jays will probably go after a big pitcher... if the rest of the rotation was going to be healthy they could pick up a hitter, but if only Halladay and Litsch return, they need someone else.

Him and A-Rod did play in Seattle for part of the same time, right? It'd be interesting if Junior ended up on the Yankees to reunite them and he finishes out his career there.
