i thought for sure people would have some comment on this.
Sean avery says that he finds it funny that other players like his sloppy seconds. The NHL fines him indefinitely. People have literally chopped other people in the head are are back on the team before the month is out.
I heard some hockey fans say that there is no room for these kind of comments. i didn't know "sloppy seconds" was derogatory. only the NHL finds a way to bungle a totally harmless situation.

It's been/being discussed in the NHL thread.
Bob McKenzie explained it very well... "sloppy seconds" is derogatory comment and it's especially uncalled for when it is directed at a specific person. This suspension is also the accummulation of so many other things he could have ALMOST been suspended for in the past that ended with no repercussions whatsoever.
He earned the suspension by being a douchebag over and over and over again. I wonder how many times he rehearsed that in front of the mirror before calling all the media over to him. Seriously... his TEAMMATES hate him and were happy to see a suspension.

Yeah, he didn't sound too popular with the rest of the Stars. Richards basically said he doesn't have anything to do with him, Ribiero and Modano both implied that they let him do his own thing and ignore it.

It's a shame, because he contributes a lot on the ice in terms of throwing other teams off their game, but he ruins it with his off-ice bullshit.
Anyone think that his presence in the locker room might be one reason why Dallas is struggling?
The Rangers did fine with him. Dallas needs to sack up.
I'd love to see him back on teh Rangers, and I bet they'd love to have him back. I bet Avery fucking hates the backass conservative nature of Dallas, and would do much better in a place like New York or LA where he can go to fashion shows in his spare time and fuck models.

My thoughts exactly. The quote itself wasn't a huge thing, it was kind of the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back. It would have been interesting to watch what Phaneuf did to Avery if he played that night though.

the rangers did well with him b/c he brought something to team that it didnt have. he isnt bringing anything to dallas except BS. ive read quotes from dubinksky, whatever the back up goalies name is and scott gomez that would make me believe the rangers would not want him back. how many points does he have this year anyway? dude is an overrated loud mouth
valaquette is the backup i think

I think my biggest issue with this is that the derogatory term was actually at his Ex-Girlfriend. Sure there is a shot at Phenuf as well, but the negative term is about his ex.

In your opinion does that support the suspension, or the other way around? For me, it gives all the more reason for him to be suspended.
The greatest thing that will never happen would be if the NHL cited the reason for the suspension as "incessant douchebaggery".

Yeah, but it would be worth it. Avery's was just stupid.

there are far worse things he could have said/done. sure most of you have argued that he's said/done all kinds of other things in the past, but when the media reports on this story they act as though "sloppy seconds" is the absolute worst possible thing you can say about someone. they don't mention any of his past activity

Actually, the majority of what I've heard/read has commented extensively on what he's done in the past and how it has all lead up to this.

You're reading the Canadian media, not ESPN.
