Send him to the AL, we're tired of him kicking our asses.

i think they'd want joba or phil.

sox could offer buchholz or masterson.

who does towers like most?

I would give either one of the two for a proven commodity like Peavy. That being said, last offseason I would have given either Ellsbury or Lester for Santana. Hell, still after the season Lester had at his young age, I'd still give either one for Santana. Just not Lester/Ellsbury plus Masterson, Lowrie, Bowden, etc. The Sox farm system has been so good as far as secondary prospects that I'd need to see what the extra prospects are first. If we're talking Buchholz or Masterson plus a guy like Lars Anderson or Ryan Kalish, absolutely. If we're talking Buchholz or Masterson plus Anderson/Kalish and another high level prospect I'd give it second thoughts.

that's what package I was thinking it would take. have they replaced Kalil yet? maybe the sox throw in lugo and eat all but $2-$3 million dollars this year and next.

lugo (at $2 million a year), buchholz (at minimum) & kalish (AA next season)

for

peavy (4 years/$60 million + 2 years/$14 million for lugo)

padres gain the above players and save $6 million this season.

Jake Peavy...what's the track record for NL studs coming over to the AL East?

I like him. I'd give up Clay B. and a few other prospects for him. Time for Theo to deal at least one or two blue chips!

his numbers away from petco are worrisome, but by no means a deal changer

nowhere at the moment, The Padres GM seems to want every prospect in an organization plus quality major leaguers to get him. Good luck with that.

Some one might give them something at the deadline, but he's pretty much pissed everyone off royally he's discussed the trade with.

If that's the case, the Padres should get what they deserve

Dear J.P Ricciardi, fuck off and get us something better than an ailing Matt Clement. Jake Peavy would be a good start.

I know that Atlanta went after him but he wanted a no-trade clause in his contract and the Braves wouldn't give it to him. At least I think that's what the situation was.

no that was the rumor. According to Frank Wren, they didn't even get that far in negociations. The No Trade clause wasn't even discussed. At this point, I don't think they'd be averse to giving an Ace who is locked up at 11 million for several more years a no trade clause. It was pretty obvious to me he was disgusted with the Padres. The fact that the cubs negociation broke down exactly the same way pretty much concludes that for me.

While certainly not as high, I still have hopes of Peavy landing in Atlanta. Especially after the Yanks swooped in and grabbed Burnett out from underneath of us. Jerkoffs.

So let me get this straight. A GM is trying to trade a 27-year-old ace that is signed through at least 2012 at a relatively modest price after he experienced elbow "complications" the year before coupled with a relative decrease in velocity. Yeah, I don't think I'm mortgaging the future and giving up 6 players that Kevin Towers wants either.
