Wow, this thread went all over the place fast.
I think the Yankees end up with Beltran no matter what. He'll replace the Williams/Lofton/whoever platoon in CF permanently.
Matsui, Beltran, Sheffield in the OF. Scary.
Anyway, game 7 is anybody's game at this point. Sadly, I can't watch it

The funny thing is, it's a sporting event. I don't even get excited about events in my own personal life.
The last few days have been killing me and 5 minutes ago I scored a ticket to the game tonight, great seat, I couldn't turn it down even though I will not get home until at least 3:00AM only to get up at 6:00AM to return back to the city. If the Yanks win it is so worth it but if things go the other way I will be miserable tonight and tomorrow.

does anyone actually realize that if the yankees lose to tonight, this will be the single most momumental collapse in pro-ports history
i was thinking about that. i found it hard to believe that the Red Sox are the first team in ALL of baseball history to come back to tie a series from 0-3. i think it's amazing. i hope they win tonight. what would you call it, a backdoor sweep?

That opens up a whole new thread. No doubt, this would be one of the biggest collapses, but when you think about it, having the best team in the league lose four close games in a row to the second best team is not that big. The TIMING would sure be terrible, and would make this collapse qualify pretty highly in that dubious category.

I can't think of any team in any sport losing a series when they were up 3-0. This would be the king of all debacles. The Yankees have gotta be feeling the pressure. I think you will see early on if it is gonna affect them or not

It's happened twice in the NHL. The 75 Islanders came back from down 0-3 in an early round of the playoffs, and the 42 Maple Leafs came back from 0-3 in the Stanley Cup Finals. I think it was the finals anyway.

technically, weren't the Red Sox favored to win the series from the beginning? just asking, not arguing.

Dear Kevin Brown,
This is Michael De Dora, Jr. In asking for a gem of a start today, I would like to take you back first.
In 1998, against Houston in the ALDS, you pitched one of the best games postseason history has ever seen. You are the same human being now as you were then. Use this as fuel my friend.
I realize how tough this season has been on you but us Yankee fans are asking just one thing of you: a gem in Game 7 versus Boston.
This performance would staple your name in Yankee postseason lore Remember Aaron Boone? Noone would know the guy if it weren't for his home run versus Boston last year. This is what happens when you perform for the Yankees in the postseason - you go down in history, Kevin!
Please take this into consideration. All Yankee fans would forever be indebted to you if you come through tonight.
Michael De Dora, Jr.
Yankee Fan for Life
