Most teams have hit the 41 game mark, I thought it would be fun to talk about where we're at.

MVP
LeBron James - Cleveland Cavaliers.
25 PPG, 7.2 APG, 7.4 RPG, 2.3 SPG, 49.7% FG %, 37% behind the arc.
• Ranks 6th in NBA in Points Per Game (25.0)
• Ranks 2nd in NBA in Steals Per Game (2.39)
• Ranks 5th in NBA in Assists Per Game (7.6)
• Ranks 4th in NBA in Minutes Per Game (41.2)

Did I mention the Cavs are in FIRST PLACE? And he's how old? Scary.
Honorable mention: Steve Nash, Shaquille O'Neal.

Coach of the Year
Nate McMillan - Seattle Sonics

A lottery team last year, predicted as a 30 win team this year. They're 29-12 and haven't slowed down since game 2 of the season. He's getting meaningful contributions from 10 guys and has helped develop Luke Ridnour into a rising star.
Honorable mention: Eddie Jordan (The Wiz are 26-15?!)

Suprise Team of the Year
Chicago Bulls, Seattle Sonics, Washington Wizards (tie)
Who thought ANY of those teams would make the playoffs, let alone all of them?

Disappoinment of the Year:
Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets.
For 2 teams this talented to be 8 and 9 games under .500 is bad news. Maybe Karl can help Denver get back to where they should be, the playoffs.

Let's hear it guys/gals!

The disappointment team so far is the Minnesota Timberwolves. They go from getting in the playoffs, passed the second round to having a poor record. They should be way better than they look.

MVP - I'll give it to Lebron with Nash coming in a close second. Lebron has done a better job at making the Cavs what they are today. There are a few other star players on the Suns and Nash just makes them better. But Lebron makes a team with no real stars other than himself into a superior team.

Surprise Team of the Year - Chicago Bulls.

MVP- LeBron, with Steve Nash a close second. Depends on what pheonix does with him back in the lineup.
Defensive- Ben Wallace. Did anyone see that there is like a 7% difference in opponents FG% when he is out of the lineup during last nights game? damn.
Rookie- Okefor
Coach- McMillon or Eddie Jordan
Surprise- Washington. Seattle.
Disappointment- Utah.
Biggest Loss- Kirilenko.
Comeback- Hill. McDyess (honorable mention).
Biggest NON- surprise- Hornets. the trendy sleeper pick in the east playoffs for the last 75 years, prove that they really arent very good.

Forgot these 2 big ones :)
Okefor is having an awesome season, considering he's their #1 option as a rookie.
Ben Wallace is the defacto defensive POY like Barry Bonds is the defacto MVP 8)

I don't know how Nash gets picked over James. He's having a FANTASTIC year, but there's no way Cleveland has more than 10 wins without Lebron, and the Suns could be in the playoffs without Nash.

At this point I would have to give it to Nash based on he is the floor general and he is in the West where there is more competition. I know these aren't very good reason's but I do feel both are very close and if I had to pick one of them it would be Nash

forget about lebron. Nash hands down. without Nash, the suns wouldn't make the playoffs (look at the suns last year--SAME LINEUP except without Nash) (Quentin richardson is too streaky to be reliable and even on the nights he gets his, he's still taking 20 shots and his fg % is low). lebron helps his team, but what's their record ? 25-16. valuable, but the suns went 31-4 with Nash, and then lost FIVE IN A ROW WITHOUT HIM. that guy is essential to success, and the success ratio is HIGH. without him, they had NO success. lebron only gets you 25 wins. he is crucial, but Nash is most valuable. Nash'll take them to the championship. lebron is most important, but not valuable, because he's not bringing them a championship, yet. he needs a supporting cast.

MVP
Steve Nash - Phoenix Suns.
15.7 PPG, 10.9 APG, 90.6 FT %, 51.7% FG %, 41.9% behind the arc.
• Ranks #1 in the NBA in Assists Per Game (10.9)
• Ranks #1 in the NBA in Assists (448.0)
• Ranks #6 in the NBA in Free-Throw Percentage (0.906)
• Ranks #7 in the NBA in Double-doubles (23.0)

There's no way the Suns are this good without him. Period.

Can't argue with that.

Once again, can't argue with that.

Disappoinment of the Year:
Minnesota Timberwolves

A team that was expected by some to make the Finals last year. They're barely in playoff contention this year, without any real justification for their underachievement.

Defensive:
Ben Wallace. I don't think this one needs clarification.

Rookie:
I'd really like to say Ben Gordon (averages 22 minutes a game off the bench and averages 12.9 PPG, 86% FT, 41.8% 3PT, 43% FG. Not too shabby), but Emeka Okafor's just dominant on the boards.

MVP: Shaq....Heat are in 1st place in the East with him, dont come close to the playoffs without him.

Rookie: Okafur......cant argue with the double-doubles...but Andre Iguodala (Sixers) will be the best player to come out of this years Rookie Class.

Surprise Team: Seattle, Chicago
Coach: Nate McMillian

I may be a bit biased, since I like the Sonics, but I think that they are having an incredible season. Even the Bulls are doing quite well, after that slow start.

MVP: Nash

Tthe Suns were awful when he was on the IR, and now that he is back, they are scoring around 120 points a game.

As for Rookie and Defender of the year, I really have no idea.

I seem to recall them in the playoffs last year.
