So not one post has been made about it on this board. Strange. I thought with Lance being back, some would take interest. I have followed it very closely, as every of the last 15 years or so and I have to say : this was up there with the most boring & predictable tours I have ever seen. Even during the reigns of Indurain or Lance there was more in it than this year. This Tour this year was effectively over after the team time trial, 4th day or something.
Other than that, - Contador is a deserved winner. It's good for him but boring for the sports he's so head and shoulders above the rest. HE could have easily won the stage today had he been allowed by Armstrong. Which is what this entire tour has been about. "being allowed by Astana". Boring as hell. - Hushovd is not the quickest sprinter yet wins the green jersey - Pellizotti is not the best climber yet wins the red & white jersey - Our Belgian rider Vandenbroeck finishes now 15th in the general (10th today on the Ventoux) That's way ahead of his team mate & leader Cadel Evans. What makes it incredibly frustrating is he lost 6 minutes because he fell in the team time trial and the team didn't want to wait for him because they seriously thought Evans could win the tour. I don't know what drugs you need to take for that, but anyway. Without those 6 minutes, he'd be in the top-10.
A Tour to forget very quickly. The day after tomorrow already actually.
So Lance Armstrong isn't going to win? Or didn't win if its over already?

This is probably the most boring Tour I've followed. It was basically all over after the team time trial, and the only excitement was how big Contador's win would be.

some of the mountain stages ending in a descent was really anti-climatic. i have great hopes for the future of the Schleck brothers, but they really need a decent team.

With all due respect, this is a ridiculous comment. There is only one better team than Saxo and it's Astana. Saxo has been phenomenal this season/tour.

So, to all the cycle experts here, does Lance have a realistic shot at winning next year? I assume he'd have to field a top-notch team to beat Contador.

Bear in mind that if Armstrong, Contador & Andy Schleck ride in a different team, I think we'll see a lot more attacks in the mountains than the borefest we saw now. Contador won't have to wait for Armstrong, which he had to do multiple times this tour. Armstrong will have to be much better in the mountains than he was now. Mind, he was very strong now, but not strong enough to beat Contador. And maybe not even Andy Schleck if he can progress on his time trial.
