Heh. I don't have the game, so I didn't know that happened.

No need to pile on. Dude's got all the talent in the world, but I'm not sure he'll ever develop the mental/game-management skills necessary to be anything more than Jeff George. But it's looking like the Bears have bigger problems than Cutler.

I want to know how many of his seventeen interceptions have come in the red zone.

After doing some research, I realized that this isn't the first time he's done this. He tossed one to Johnny Jolly in Week 1, on the GB 8.

This has nothing to do with the trade for Cutler, btw. :haha:

Other than being able to throw the ball really hard and really far, what exactly does Jay Cutler bring to the table that any other middling quarterback doesn't? I've asked this question to the few Bears fans I know, and they can't answer it (or more likely, don't want to answer it).

Nothing at all.

But, as a Broncos fan, it took him leaving for me to really see it. I wasn't sure if it was just sour grapes at first, but this season has proved it to me. He's insanely talented, but he's not a winner. Hey, even Jamarcus Russel can throw the ball 75 yards from his knees.

Cutler never played on especially competitive teams at Vanderbilt, which helped distort his negative stats. "Oh, he threw a lot of picks? Well, I'm sure he was playing from behind against more talented teams ..."

It's the red zone issues that are the worst. He wasn't this statistically bad with the Broncos, but --as bad as the defense was--the past years Denver teams were better than this Bears team. More talented in running and had a better WR corps. He was very often an excellent QB for us at midfield. But I did cringe every time we got into the red zone. It just seemed like a disproportionate number of his mistakes came there. And that has been the case with the Bears this year, as well.

It's not a coincidence that the Broncos were like 2nd in yards per game on offense last year but middle of the road in terms of points. Cutler can take you down the field but can't put it in the endzone.

This guy definitely needs his own thread now. If I have time to kill, I might even move some of the previous debates over into this thread.

Anyway, maybe the Chargers fans will get off Ed Hochuli's case now.

Source: Cutler, Harris fined by NFL
ESPN.com

Struggling Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has been fined $20,000 by the NFL for abusive conduct toward a game official during Chicago's blowout loss to Arizona in Week 9, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Cutler was fined as a result of verbal abuse toward the back judge, which drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the Bears' 41-21 loss to the Cardinals.

Acquired in an offseason trade from Denver, Cutler leads the league in interceptions (17) after throwing five in Thursday's 10-6 loss in San Francisco. His 76.0 quarterback rating is among the lowest in the league.

Meanwhile, Bears defensive tackle Tommie Harris was fined $7,500 for unnecessarily striking an opponent. He was ejected just 65 seconds into the game for slugging Cardinals offensive tackle Deuce Lutui.

Player fines collected by the league are used to support retired player programs, including the NFL Players Association's Players Assistance Trust, disaster relief initiatives and other charities supporting youth, education and sports-related medical research.
