Sub-question, although the answer is probably obvious: Why do you hate it?
Hockey (NHL): There are a few dumbass rules, but personally hate this one the most: Teams that LOSE the game after a shootout are still awarded 1 point. Why that rule exists is beyond me. You can have a team with a 15W-14L-11 record, 11 being the number of times you didn't have the skills to win in a shootout. 15-14-11 doesn't look like a terrible record, but in reality it should be fucking horrible: 15W-25L.

Basketball: Player gets automatically suspended for leaving the bench, unless it goes unnoticed by the television commentators or there is only a mild, rather than moderate, shoving match.

I remember seeing some managers being upset when a ball hits the top of the fence/wall and goes in the stands for a home run against their team. What's the official rule on this?

That might be ballpark specific. Baseball has a lot of ballpark specific rules. Actually, the "ground rule double" is not a "ground rule" at all. A ground rule is a rule made specifically for a ballpark. A ground rule double should be more aptly called an automatic double. Example of a ground rule is at Wrigley if the ball gets caught in the ivy on the outfield wall it's a ground rule (correctly used there) triple.

Football:
Team A has the ball on their opponents one. Run a play..two flags on the play. Team A called for illegal formation (5 yard) and Team B called for personal foul (15 yards).
The ref marks off the 5 yard (to the six) then half the distance to the goal for the 15 yard penalty. The ball is placed at the 3 yard line. Team B gained 2 yards and committed a greater penalty (yardage wise 5 to 15).
New rule (should be)... Any personal foul inside the 10 yard line should be marked on the one.

Football: The away goal rule.
Just for anyone who doesn't know.
In a knockout competition tie that involves two legs (home and away), if the scores are as follows;
Man Utd 1 -1 Chelsea
Chelsea 2 - 2 Man Utd
Aggregate (3-3)
Man Utd will win as they scored more away goals, as opposed to classically whereby extra time will be played.
It is an attempt to promote more attacking play from the away team, as opposed to holding for a draw. Rules should never be in place to dictate the style of play however and it is completely unfair.
To further the idiocy, extra time will obviously be if played if the games are 1-1 and 1-1...but they STILL count the away goals after extra time of the second leg. This means in the above scenario only Man Utd could possible take advantage of that rule.

NFL: sudden death overtime. Each team should get one possession before it becomes sudden death. College football: pass interference is only 15 yards. It should be a spot foul, like it is in the NFL.

The roughing the passer rules in the NFL They have also become way too lenient on offensive offside penalties in the NFL with the "causing the offense to go offsides" and the fact that I see guys coming out of their stances taking a stab back almost a full second before the ball is snapped to pass block. For an example of this see Jason Peters on almost every pass play.

man I would love to see that. Both teams get an opportunity to score. Say the first team kicks an FG. The second team can match it or score a TD and win out right or not score and lose immediately. That would work much better and really not change much.

They do it to make the playoff race more exciting, and it's worked. I don't mind the team that loses in the shootout getting 1 point. I think the fact that the loser in OT gets 1 point is more absurd.

i'm not sure i fully understand this rule. is grounded on your knees? or do you have to be on knees and hands/elbows? i remember hearing the explination had something to do w/ the vulnerablity of a persons neck in that position.
