is this hockey or NFL? if the later can someone explain to me why it stops and starts every 5 seconds? and why they wear all that gear? rugbys quicker meaner and better.

I used to play John Maddens NFL on megadrive when I was a kid and understood it to a point, our ball games(haha) dont stop unless the ball leaves the pitch over the outside line, someones scored or someones been fouled. That stoppy starty thing with nfl always confused me.

Rugby is a whole different kind of game though. I dabbled in it a bit in college. I just wasn't butch enough. With the amount of rain we got too, it was such a dirty, dirty sport. Made things interesting.
ETA: I'd still rather watch American football than rugby.

Hockey. If the offside team touches the puck passed the blueline before their offside guys clear the attacking zone, it is offsides. They can shoot the puck in as long as none of their players touch the puck before the zone is cleared.
