40 year old NFLer or 40 year old NHLer

Watching the red wings game...Lidstrom turning 40... Favre is 40...

the nhler.

nobody's 'blocking' for him. he's on the ice for more time than most other players (unlike a QB).

well yea duh...but mainly just the age and being a professional athlete.

NFLers have a week to recoup...NHL playoffs are so ridiculosuly grueling.

Lidstrom is a beast and needs more goddamn recognition.

Of course I am surprisingly pulling for the coyotes

Chelios at 48 and Howe at 50+ are even more impressive.

While he has fallen off slightly this year, chelios was nothing more than a 3rd or 4th D past the age of 40. Im sure a lot of guys could be decent past 40, they just choose not to be. Chelios just has DUIs to payoff.

Even so playing in the league at 52 is ridiculous. But I definitely see what you mean.

If there are more guys doing it in the NHL, NFL would have to be more impressive, no? Or is it extremely rare in both?

Not to mention the boatload of K/Ps that play into their forties.
