Kulemin talks aren't going well in Toronto, which really sucks. I really think he's on the verge of a breakout, but apparently his agent is looking for $3M+ because he's a first line winger. Burke says (and I really can't disagree) that he's only a first line winger by default because he was with the Leafs. I hope they get something done because he's a big part of the rebuild.

Entry Level players will be subject to a maximum annual salary (plus signing and games played bonuses) of $850,000 for 2005 and 2006 draftees; $875,000 for 2007 and 2008 draftees; $900,000 for 2009 and 2010; and $925,000 for 2011 draftees.

The maximum combined signing bonus will be limited to 10% of the player's maximum annual compensation in any year.

Entry Level players may negotiate for performance bonuses up to a maximum of $850,000 in individual "Schedule A" bonuses per year (maximum of $212,500 per bonus). A player may also be eligible to earn individual "B" bonuses for League-wide excellence, which will, as a general matter, be paid by the League. In addition, a player will be eligible to negotiate with his club "excess" individual "B" bonuses, subject to a maximum aggregate of $2 million in any year.

How long will a player be in the Entry Level system?

Players who sign their first contract at age 18-21 are required to sign three-year Entry Level contracts; players age 22-23 will be required to sign two-year deals; and players age 24 will be required to sign a one-year Entry Level contract.

so $900,000 is the cap hit? and they player could earn up $2M total each of their first 3 years (assuming they sign a 3-year entry level deal).

I'm not positive (as you can see the language isn't clear), but I think any possible bonus money has to be applied, which is how Blake Wheeler ended up with like a 3.5 million cap hit his first year. Someone else might know the intricacies better than me, but I think some of the bonus money counts up front.

so, if its similar to John Tavares--- Hall/Seguin will cost the Bs $3.75 against the cap for the next 3 years.

that's about $1M more than what the team will save by buying out Ryder (plz Zod).

the past two #2 picks have gotten:

2009-Hedman-$3.5
2008-Doughty-$3.47

Apparently the Hawks have to take on another 1.3M cap hit because Toews got a bonus for winning the Conn Smythe.

Not sure the Sens will do much. Doesn't sound like Volchenkov will be back, but I wouldn't pay a purely defensive defenseman more than 4M anyway. Probably going to buyout Cheechoo.

Hopefully nothing, but I have no clue. Why Ottawa fans constantly hate on the guy is beyond me. He's never had any semblance of a consistent 2nd line while in Ottawa but still produces. He was unreal for the last 30 games of the season. If they trade him, then they'll miss the playoffs next year.

Ottawa fans seem to hate players who show creativity. They'd rather have a team full of Mike Fisher's, and a team like that wouldn't come close to the playoffs.

I think overall his last two seasons haven't been that good, and he was invisible the first half of last year. The three previous seasons he was WELL over a point a game, but the last two seasons he's been under that level and his defense and physical play aren't really where they need to be to unless he's putting up a lot of points.

I actually trust your analysis more than my own considering you know the team a lot better than I do, but that's what I would have said.

I don't think they'll move him.
