Anybody ever read Future Greats and Heartbreaks by Gare Joyce? He got to go behind the scenes of the 06 draft.

Pretty awesome book for any hockey fan to read.

I can't fuckin' wait to watch hockey again. 1st Habs pre-season is going to be televised on September 20th.... Unfortunately I'll be out watching a little movie that night. Being the hockey-mad city that we are, I can just watch the 2nd pre-season game on the next night which will also be televised.

I got Avs season tickets so I'll go to a few pre-season games, but they don't televise them here for some reason, despite having their own TV channel.

Hopefully NHL Network airs a bunch of them this year like they did last year.

Just awful... it's even harder to wrap your mind around when it's someone you watched and cheered on for so long. Sad, sad offseason.

from what ive seen from him aside from being a great fighter, he was a really funny dude and always friendly w/ fans and in interviews. he also gave donald brashear, one of the all time greats, the worse loss of his career knocking brash on his ass. and i dont wanna take away from his death, but i'm afraid people are gonna see the common denominator w/ these 3 is they all were known for fighting. the best thing that can happen is the nhl increases the quality of their substance abuse and mental health programs.

its just so weird, i dont think ive ever seen anything like this in sprorts.

Yeah this is really bad. I mean, Bob Probert is one thing, but this is three guys under the age of 40. So sad.

bad and scary.

like warehouse said, i hope this acts as a wake-up call for the players, the teams, and the league to provide/mandate mental help and support.

A plane carrying the Lokomotiv KHL team crashed today, only one survivor. Their roster lists former NHLers Pavol Demitra, Ruslan Salei, Josef Vasicek and Karl Skrastins. Brad McCrimmon is their head coach.

I can't remember a worse off season for hockey or maybe any sport than this one.

Alexander Galimov is reportedly the only survivor of the crash.

Are we doing a league again this year? I'd like to defend my championship.
