I heard 5 mil is going to Anaheim.
Yeah I just read that too. 5 million is nothing compared to the 81 million the Angels will be paying him in the next 4 years.
This was considered one of, if not THE most untradeable contracts in baseball. I want to call Anthopolous a genius now, but he was just taking advantage of a GM trying to make a splash.
Aw screw it, he's a genius!

One: I am really surprised that the Jays were able to move the seemingly "immovable object" that is Vernon Wells. I don't know if I totally believe the 5mil number. It doesn't seem like anywhere near enough for this to be a good deal for the Angels. Then again, the Angels were publicly in on Crawford and Beltre and Soriano and didn't end up with anyone. They needed to do something to appease the fan base. So this is a great move for Toronto. Two: The Rays just got a great deal on Manny.

Yea admittedly I wasn't really familiar with much about Wells before now besides just his name and he was more or less a usual all star caliber hitter in the AL, I just took a look at the numbers... holy shit For a guy who only hit 30 or more HRs three different times (incl 2010) and knocked in 100 or more three different times over a decade long career, how in the holy fuck did he get his current contract?? sweet moses.

One huge season and a GM who made a lot of very bad decisions. He's always been a good player and could have played his whole career in Toronto had he not made so much money. Since he's a great person in the community and loved (contract aside) by the fans, it's sort of hard to see him go.

Less than 10 days for most teams until pitchers and catchers report. The construction just finsihed on the Dbacks/Rockies complex behind where I work. It's been sitting there mocking me this whole time. Not a fan of either team but I may have to cut out early sometime next month and check it out.
