I think the SEC would have Texas A&M on their radar more than Clemson though, just because the SEC already has a market in South Carolina, and the Texas market is huge.
Both of you are correct, unfortunately. One of my anal college football demands is to see in-state rivals in the same conference. I do think the state of Florida is big enough that taking in FSU and Miami wouldn't hurt UF that badly. UGA and the other USC, on the other hand, would throw a huge fit.

I wonder how the other schools would view Clemson's entry in the SEC. Maybe the Gamecocks would cry about it, but I don't know...they may like the idea. Clemson and UGA go all the way back to 1897, and are playing in 2013/2014, so hopefully they'd welcome the Tigers too. I'm not sure if the other schools would care. I guess the big thing is that Clemson doesn't offer the SEC anything it doesn't already have; TAMU does.

I think that's the problem with all of the schools mentioned.

Personally I think both Clemson and TAMU are both fits for the SEC. I'd like to watch those games anyway. Clemson already has local SEC eastern rivals they used to play Georgia every year. TAMU would fit right in the west. They are a better fit than Arkansas anyway.

So BSU just fired their athletic director of 30 years, and it was mentioned that the NCAA investigation had something to do with it. Maybe this will wake up the BSU fans to the fact that they're just like any other major college football program in having to bend the rules.

Doubt it, Notre Dame supporters still think they are above the fray while wearing Michael Floyd jerseys.

Thinking on this some more, the one thing Clemson could offer is that the fan base travels...So tourism to whatever team Clemson is playing would help. Like if Clemson is playing Bama, I'd be willing to bet Clemson would bring more fans than any other SEC school, sans Auburn.
Sounds like TAMU could be a done deal, and we'll hear something soon. If the SEC expands to 16, I hope they get: TAMU, Clemson, Ga Tech, and FSU.

Actually, why don't I give you the honor of starting this year's college football thread? I should also be putting all this A&M talk in the conference realignment thread.

So, for the time being A&M stays in the Texas league.
Wonder how the Texas offensive line performs this year with Stacy Searles coming off a disasterous tenure at UGA.
Couldn't be much worse really, but I blame a lot of that on our old O-Coordinator. The offense was just really stagnant, no explosiveness at all. Drove me crazy watching us run the same zone plays out of shotgun for two yards a carry. We got the guy from Boise State to run our offense and I like what he brings. Multiple looks, more Ace, just way more balance in general. Not afraid to run a totally situational offense and just do what works. So I am optimistic.

Yahoo is killing ESPN on this stuff.
Even now its not the lead story on ESPN.com, despite the fact it is probably the most throughly documented initial piece on a college football scandal ever- and it involves one of the most relevant programs to the majority of its core audience (men 25-45) who all remember when Miami was THE team in college football.. Hell, its not even the lead story on their College Football page.
