Is there a thread to bitch about not having a play-off system? College Football is my favorite sport, but come December and January, it really derails.

I tried including that in the conference realignment thread, but I think it's worthy to being bitched about in any college football thread.

The list actually isn't that bad, overall. I think Mississippi State will get creamed when they enter SEC West play, but at least they actually showed something last year. I just have little tolerance for teams that get ranked solely for good recruiting and not actual play on the field. Arizona State almost snuck in there on that basis, but seriously people, stop giving ND the benefit of the doubt.

I can see the following teams not being in the top 25 at the end of November:

South Carolina - They should win the SEC East, but I hope the Chicken Curse will strike again this year, after taking last year off.

Notre Dame - O-ver-rated, clap, clap, clap, o-ver-rated.

Penn State. Critics love 'em, but they fall off pretty much every year.

Auburn. After they lose to Clemson, people will realize this aint last year's team.

Georgia. Nah, they lost like all their RBs...I don't think they're gonna be that good.

The rest seem pretty legit to me though.

South Carolina - Drunk QB; Drunk QB coach still best talent in the east.

Notre Dame - benefit of the doubt. Schedule is not bad, coach is pretty good, they've made waves with the guys they've recruited on defense.

Penn State - coach (see Florida State) Man do thier QB's love turning the freaking ball over. I've seen enough of Matt Mcgloin after his 5 picks vs Florida.

Auburn - don't have a clue. They have talent, but I don't know what they're going to do.

Georgia - It's make or break for Mark Richt. His tail is on the line. I think the backs will actually improve some this year. The line, not so much. The defense should be better. I think they fall out early and come back strong later on.

Still think LSU is overrated until I see them have a QB perform. Alabama's defense is going to be freaking ridiculous. It will be on display in Happy Valley.

Is Oregon going to be sanctioned?

I am very excited about Alabama's D. I don't see us giving up any more than 4 points a game on average.

I'm glad the SEC is a bit down right now. I'm so sick of them taking up about 75% of College Football talk. I can barely watch ESPN during football season because they seem to pretty much only talk about the SEC, the Patriots, and the Cowboys.

What would your reaction be if Clemson joined the SEC?

Mixed. The SEC gets on my nerves because of the high horse everyone is on...SEC talent, SEC speed, their schedule isn't as tough as a SEC schedule, etc...

However, Clemson seems like a natural fit. I mean SEC is football first, ACC is basketball first. Clemson and FSU probably have the most football tradition of the ACC schools. I'd love to see Clemson play UGA, Florida, UT on a regular basis, and think it would be good for all parties involved. So I don't know...Clemson is kinda a dark horse of the ACC...the guys in North Carolina run the show, and they seem to really hate Clemson, so I'm not all that loyal to the ACC in general.

Good insight. Personally, I'd love to see Clemson, GT, FSU, and Miami bolt for the SEC. I don't think the money gods would let it happen anytime soon, though.

UGA, UF, and USC would have no interest in that happening.

The more I think about it the more I agree. I would not mind at all if Clemson exits the ACC for the SEC. I think the SEC would have Texas A&M on their radar more than Clemson though, just because the SEC already has a market in South Carolina, and the Texas market is huge.
