Don't really need a thread for it, but decided to call it Women's World Cup the title instead of:

Blown Handball Call in the Australia - Equatorial Guinea match today.

That was crazy.

I've been matching some of these games, it's pretty fun.

Hope Solo is some kind of Jedi...

Great heart and determination from the US women to overcome what was truly some of the worst officiating I have ever seen.

The US vs. Brazil match today was amazing. I have (for the first time ever) invested time into watching soccer during this World Cup. I have watched several matches from the tournament opener through today's match and (to my surprise) have genuinely enjoyed every minute of it. The US team showed great resolve and determination today and their victory was very well deserved. The officiating that allowed the Brazilian penalty kick to be retaken to score their first goal, and the missed off-sides on their second goal was mind blowing. In matches of this magnitude, and the World Cup on the line, it is sad that a referee can make such costly mistakes not once, but twice. Credit to the American women for fighting through the odds, a man down for well over half of the match, to score a magnificent goal with only a minute of of stoppage time remaining. It was a breath taking moment in my short time of watching soccer that I will not soon forget.

so the penalty kick redo wasnt on Solo, but on the US player who entered the box too early? how strongly is that rule normally enforced?

From everything I've heard the rule is rarely if ever enforced. But I read that Fifa stated the reason for the redo was due to Solo being off the line. Which doesn't make sense at all either. Anyway, great game. One of the best games I've ever seen. This team has such heart and resolve.

The whole encroaching the box thing reminded me of this crushing moment for Clint Dempsey this season at Fulham. Obviously the kick wasn't retaken.

What is that rule actually? As I remember heels on the goal line and you either can't move your feet until the ball is actually kicked?

Americans never give up. That's why they won.

See that statement, change it up a bit and relate it to the men's national team.

The women's national team has always played with more heart pride and passion than the men's team. I don't know exactly why that is, but it seems to be the case.

Perhaps, but still, both American men and woman play with more heart, pride and passion than Brazilians.
