I guess they do pull QB's out of their ass. He was damn good at Northwestern before the unfortunate broken leg against Penn State.

I'm sure he'll pick up the offense faster than Vince.

i'm pretty sure kafka will be the #2 all season. i actually really like the kid, but he's no vick. im also not as worried about vick getting hurt, mainly b/c he's not running after one read like he used to. we'll see though, b/c the line seems to get shifted daily

I know this is not important nationally..

But the Lions cut Dave Rayner (signed with dallas)- giving the kicking job to Jason Hanson. one of two kickers since 1980 to be the Lions Kicker at the start of a season. He is the only remaining player in the league when true free agency started to still be with the same team. The 7th Leading scorer in NFL history.

The free agency bit is definitely interesting. I would have imagined there wouldn't be anybody.

Indeed. I'll wish them the best for all but week 2. I get to be annoyed with Philadelphia, Andy Reid and Atlanta week 2.

So should I pick him up in my fantasy league?

You better nab him in the early rounds.

I play in a league full of Lions fans so that's probably a good idea.

Tell them that Scott Mitchell was the Lions best quarterback in the past 20 years and watch them freak the hell out.

Oh, that glorious 1994 season!

Actually, I think it was 1995 where the Lions led the League or were second in total offense. Barry Sanders, Herman Moore, Brett Perriman, Scott Mitchell. The Lions were really good (offensively). Then that debacle in Philly in the playoffs. :shake:

Falcons signed James Sanders and Kelvin Hayden to bolster the secondary.

I feel marginally better.

They should probably be more careful with that flat iron next time.
