Couldn't have said it better myself, I watched him play junior in Kitchener. You guys are lucky to have him out there.

Feels good to watch hockey again.

Jared Cowen is impressive. The Sens were smart in letting him play another year in the WHL.

Colborne will be a good player down the road when he fills out. Watched him at DU, he's got a nice skill set.

Both teams have some impressive young players, but the Leafs have a much better looking roster right now... it'll be interesting to see how this rivalry builds itself back up over the next few years.

So Jody Shelley should be getting the first suspension of the Shanahan era... will it be a decent length or will it be more of the Colin Campbell crap?

5 games, which i think is fine. it was a dumb hit, but not earth shattering

Letourneau-Leblond was technically the first suspension (5 games, 4 preseason, 1 reg. season). I love the video Shanahan put out explaining it too.

Seems fair. I think Shelley even knew he fucked up after he hit him.

edit: http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=376445 Shelley gets 10 games (5 pre, 5 Reg)

Looks like Shanahan wants to send a message.

the message seems to be business as usual w/ shitty nhl suspensions. what shelley did was not worth 10 games...he got a boarding major and had to fight right after, i dont think much more was needed.

Well the five games of the pre-season are essentially meaningless. This is a 5-6 games suspension. If this play happens in the regular season it would be either 5-6.

And saying that he had to fight right after is "payment"... the guy's a goon and he fought a goon. So his punishment for a dirty hit was doing what he's paid to do, and what was inevitably going to happen before the end of the game anyway?

If it was actually a 10 game suspension I would say it's two much, but it's not.

yeah i dont think he would have gotten 10 in the regular season. probably 8ish. i dont think fighting was "payment", he got a 5 minute major and got kicked out of the game. i'm just saying he did the right thing.

i heard about the simmonds thing. totally embarrassing. i hope the flyers dont play any "home" games there anymore, fuckin ridiculous that happens. on a side note, since i cant wear my richards jersey anymore, i'm getting a simmonds jersey, and probably shenn eventually.
