I guess it comes down to Mickey likes the gays more than me. Now we know.

That last post will probably upset Mickey. I'm betting on it, actually.

Look, here's the deal: I don't think Simmonds should get a suspension because I don't think the National Hockey League should be the moral police--because that would be absolutely absurd. In a world where there's famine and genocide and we spend millions of dollars and countless hours of energy watching 20-somethings hit a little piece of rubber around, the idea of morality is pretty shot to hell.

But making excusing for using that term in 2011 in such a derogatory manner--and to Sean Avery, who has come out in support of the gay community--is something we should not engage in. Simmonds might have been a victim a week ago, but he's an oppressor now. Any young gay man who plays hockey has to watch this and think, "Wow, that's what everyone else thinks of me." It is certainly hard to be black in America, but that doesn't make it okay to pick someone else as the victim.

And in case you're wondering--no, I have no interest in actually talking about hockey right now.

I agree with all of this.

Maybe I just missed arguing with Mickey. :\

Because the Red Sox might be on the brink of the biggest collapse in recent memory and that's taking up most of my interest right now.

No action against Simmonds. Lack of evidence. Weirdo.

It's the greatest thing ever, right? Oh my god it's amazing. I don't even care how it ends--seeing Boston this fucked up is just fun.

Just kidding, I totally care how it ends. With Boston getting swept by the Orioles. That would make my whole fall.

i cant believe you 2 boners ruined an entire page in this thread.

the nhl shouldnt do anything to simmonds, its fucking crazy. the kobe comparisons are way off, kobe was talking to a ref when he said that. i bet simmonds wasnt even the only player last night to say the word "faggot" on the ice. this is a hockey game, not a fucking social equality event.
