Rumor is if the Marlins make an offer to Reyes it'll be a 3 year deal with a lot of money per season. Something along the lines of 3yrs/$60-70m.
Send Hanley and his attitude on up I 75 We loves us some ex Marlinz shortstops.
I think Hanley gets a bad rap. Plus, he'll be our 3rd baseman in that case.
But I think Reyes is just the fall back plan if they don't get Pujols or Fielder.

Papbelbon in serious talks with Phillies as Phillies are near cutting off negotiations with Madson.
Also, saw Moneyball last night...amazing. If anyone didn't see that, do it this weekend. Jonah Hill is awesome with Brad Pitt.

Don't worry guys, Hanley is staying with the Marlins. He's poised for a great comeback season with Stanton, The Cuban, and Reyes or Fielder or Pujols in the lineup.

Well, they are about due for a World Series title followed by a rapid tear-down and a decade of mediocrity, aren't they?

We were actually due for that in '09. And '98-'00 was anything but mediocre.
If the Marlins offered Reyes three years he and Hanley would both be free agents at the same time. Plus that would be a three year window for the new ballpark for them to see if attendance and revenue really improved and at that point I think they'll make the ultimate decision about whether we become the Pirates or they keep trying to win.

Does anyone else think it's crazy that teams are willing to pay that much money to a closer?

So I'm assuming I'm the only Red Sox fan who thinks we should have re-signed Papelbon? 4 years would be risky but we've taken bigger and dumber risks (Dice K, Drew etc)
I just see Ryan Madson (who I now fully expect them to sign) imploding at Fenway against AL East lineups
or maybe we'll go the "value" route and sign Joe Nathan off of Tommy John surgery
