The Jays are supposed to be a frontrunner on Yu Darvish, but does anyone else think it would be worthwhile for a team in their situation to take that money :
I watched alot of the last World Baseball Classic, that kid can flat out DEAL! there was a couple other young players on that Japanese team too, I wanna say a SS with a bit of the Ichiro/Japanese style slash/slap hitting, but with more of an American stance giving him some pop (hard to explain I guess) But those 2 really stood out, the SS (I think) and Yu Darvish

According to Puerto Rico’s El Nuevo Dia newspaper, Clemens “wants to pitch” for the same Indios de Mayaguez team that his son Koby is playing for this winter. But a source told the Daily News that although the 49-year-old Clemens threw a bullpen session recently in Puerto Rico, “it’s pure gossip” that the Rocket will pitch for the team.
The Nuevo Dia report quoted an unnamed Indios team member saying the elder Clemens “wants to pitch, that’s 100% sure. I saw his desire to compete again. He was (at) the practice and said he wanted to play with his son.”
A photo of the Rocket wearing an Indios jersey ran with the report.
Clemens, who last pitched professionally in 2007 with the Yankees, is scheduled to go on trial in April for the second time on charges that he lied to Congress about using performance-enhancing drugs.
Clemens’ attorneys, Rusty Hardin and Michael Attanasio, did not return requests for comment.
I'm elated by this, I (along with plenty other fans) were hoping even mid-season we'd get him via trade, but of course as the rules went ever other team would have to pass on him for us to get our shot, unlikely. And all things considered here into the offseason I kinda didn't think it still had a good chance of going down, but considering we needed a new LH power bat on the bench and with Ryan Howard's uncertainly at being 100% to start the season, it feels like everything fell into place. and Jimbo's finally back with Cholly

I'm surprised to see Thome going to an NL team. He can still give a team a good 300 at bats as a part-time DH, but he's not going to be get nearly as many at-bats working solely as a pinch-hitter. The man can't play the field. At 41, he's relatively fragile and asking him to fill in at 1b now and then (for the first time in what? 6/7 years) is not a good idea. He's chasing that WS ring, so good luck to him.

Yeah, it's a weird signing on that level especially with Howards injury.

But I think even Thome himself is aware he'll primarily be a pinch hitter. He apparently is making a point this offseason of starting to condition himself better for a small return to the field, for what that's worth, but there's also some expectation that we'll try and get Michael Cuddyer, who can play 1st, and even though presumably John Mayberry could be our everyday leftfielder next year (it's highly unlikely we resign Ibanez) he can play 1st as well. Point is, even with his age, I like having Thome as a power lefty bat off the bench late in the game much more than Ross Gload. I mean if he's going to come back for one last year, mostly for his last good chance for a ring, I think it actually makes a good amount of sense it would be with the Phils, given his relationship with Charlie Manuel, and it's certainly a low risk move for us in terms of money.

Cuban center fielder Yoenis Cespedes defected mid-summer and is expected to be cleared for free agency within a matter of weeks, reports Yahoo's Jeff Passan. The 26-year-old is "arguably the best all-around player to come out of Cuba in a generation," according to Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus, who describes Cespedes as "a legitimate centerfielder with plus power and speed." Both Passan and Goldstein expect the 26-year-old to receive a deal in the range of the $30.25MM Aroldis Chapman received in January of 2010. MLBTR first told you about Cespedes' escape from the Cuban National Team in July.
The Yankees, Phillies, Blue Jays, Giants, Marlins, Nationals, Indians, Athletics, and Pirates have had a presence at Cespedes' workouts, reports Yahoo's Tim Brown.

Free agent shortstop Jose Reyes is scheduled to meet with the Marlins, according to WFAN's Mike Francesa (Twitter link). The tweet says that Reyes has received an offer, but my guess is nothing has been formally presented at this early stage.

The Marlins have identified their center fielder of the future. Now all they have to do is sign him when he’s declared a free agent.
Yoenis Cespedes, a 26-year-old Cuban who defected last summer, should get the go-ahead to begin negotiating with major league teams later this month. According to an American League source who attended his showcase Friday in the Dominican Republic, the buzz is the Marlins have the inside track.
Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal tweeted Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria was scheduled to meet with Cespedes in the Dominican Republic later this week. A source who spoke with a Marlins front office member confirmed Loria and other key members of the club’s baseball operations department would see Cespedes in a private workout on Thursday.
Yahoo’s Jeff Passan and Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus both profiled Cespedes, who many believe will command a deal in excess of $30 million, along the lines of what Cuban fireballer Aroldis Chapman secured from the Reds. The Marlins made an unsuccessful run at Chapman when he was declared a free agent.
Cespedes, the source said, may be the best player ever to come out of Cuba. Passan reported the Yankees are “particularly hot” for the right-handed hitting, five-tool talent. The 6-0, 215-pound Cespedes played for Cuba in the 2009 World Baseball Classic. Since then, major league teams have been salivating at the idea of signing him.
Goldstein’s piece details a see-it-to-believe-it, 20-minute video Dominican-based advisor Edgar Mercedes put together. It shows him doing everything from blasting home runs to sprinting on a track to showing off a 45-inch vertical leap to leg pressing more than 1,300 pounds.
Many a Cuban defector has been overhyped, but this guy looks like a monster. It doesn’t hurt the Marlins that Adam Katz of Wasserman Media Group, which also represents Hanley Ramirez, is Cespedes’ agent as well.
“This may be the big one for the Miami Marlins,” the source said. “He fits all their needs [on and off the field].”

Speculation is 3rd. Makes the most sense based on the rest of the team.
