What a devastating blow to their football program. Kudos to the NCAA for not taking 2 years to make a decision. It's unprecedented, and doesn't exactly follow NCAA procedure, but it was the right thing to do.

The NCAA also said that any current or incoming football players are free to immediately transfer and compete at another school.
this is the part i like best about the NCAA's decisions. current athletes are not royally screwed by this crap.
Unless you're a freshman and not to mention it's July 22. Training camp starts in a week. You're going to find a new institution, move, make the team and start within a month?
Good luck with that. Unless it's Georgia and you've kicked out about 10 people in the last couple of years, or you can do like Saban and "medical hardship" some guys that can't play worth a shit anymore there's not that many places to go, that would be much better.

i take it to mean they retain their eligibility from this year despite transferring, so join another program and put the eligibility toward next year if you can't make the roster this season.

oh ok, understood.
and it states "current or incoming" so freshman are included. is it still a shitty situation for these young student/athletes? of course. is it as bad as having to stay there b/c you'd lose an entire year for transferring? no, i don't believe so.

I thought it said 3 years of eligibility or less. I read it incorrectly.
