:(

This one deserves its own thread, apart from the general college football threads and the Penn State scandal.

As I posted in that other thread, my brother's 29 today and he's the most devoted college football fan I know. He graduated from Penn State a few years back and lived for that football team, and to see this all crumble and end this way is too sad to put into words.

I hope in time those with no vested interest in Penn State are able to acknowledge that prior to his terrible mistake he was a really great man and did a tremendous amount for his players and various charities. I know the public at large will always think of him as a bad person because he didn't do enough when faced with extraordinary circumstances, but that wasn't JoePa, and if you think that's all there was to him, then it really is an incredibly sad day.

Rest in Peace.

with all respect, wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall right now at the pearly gates?

RIP, Joe.

I heard quotes from Matt Millen and Lou Holtz intimating the scandal robbed him of his will to live. This was my first thought when I heard the news this morning. So sad not only his career and now passing will be tied to that mess. All that aside (something tells me lots of ugly is about to come out on the internet), what tremendous football coach and leader of men.

I think he would've died pretty quickly no matter how he left PSU, much like Bear Bryant.

Let's not forget: the dude enabled child rape.

I still think there's more to his, for the lack of a better word, involvement in what went on with Sandusky.

I disagree. That's just ignoring the elephant in the room. Kind of what I assume ESPN is doing right now.

Yeah, there are certain things you just dont get a pass for no matter how many good deeds you have done.

What kind of step ladder do you have to use in order to get on that high horse?

I didnt know being anti-child molestation was elitist.

I don't know, man. Imagine being related to one of the kids that was raped and turning on ESPN today to hear Chris Berman talk about how legendary JoePa is.

It's not. But who are you to speak of what people can "get passes for?"

You're right, who am I to judge child rapists? I mean, we all make mistakes!

JoePa raped kids.

I dont think it's pretentious at all to say that people who cover up the rapes of dozens of children should not get a pass because they built a great football program.
