My football hero, Dan Marino, is going into the NFL hall of fame this year!! Along with Steve Young and Michael Irvin, and possibly Derrik Thomas too! the finalists were announced today. |

I'm not sure Irvin deserves to go. Does anyone have his career stats handy? |

So Marino retired after Elway and Barry? I find this hard to believe. |

Irvin is a lock. I think he is one of the 5 best receivers of all time. His numbers aren't that great but he was a menace to DB's. I loved the way he used to go up and get the ball. I hated those Cowboy teams but Irvin was the real deal |

159 career games played 750 receptions 11904 yards 15.9 yards per catch 65 TD Of course, I'm a Cowboys fan and will say Irvin is a lock. |

I'm not a Cowboys fan and I know Irvin will eventually be in there if not in the next class. |

It's hard to argue with those numbers. I didn't realize he put up that good of numbers. I don't think he was a HOF caliber receiver though. I think it was a product of the team he was on. He was playing with Emmitt in his prime with one of the best offensive lines ever so defenses had to respect the rush and Aikman had all day to sit back and pick apart defenses when they passed. I'm not saying Irvin wasn't a good receiver, I just don't think he was HOF material. Put him on the Chargers or Bengals, or 20 other teams in the NFL and we wouldn't be having this discussion. |
