And just because their stretch in the late 80's ended in 1990, shouldnt diminish that they made 4 straight ECF, 3 straight NBA Finals, and 2 titles. Thats a pretty dominating run. Especially when you factor in the fact that not once, but twice in the past 20 years the NBA has had to change the rules, or adjust their enforcement of rules to account for the impact that Pistons have had.
enjoy those conference finals banners.

Since 1980 The Celtics have 4 titles. The Pistons have 3. And thats using a set starting point that doesn't arbitrarily discount time periods beneficial to the Celtics case.

Since 1989, The Pistons have 3 titles, the Celtics have 1.

So please tell me how the Celtics belong on your list twice, but the Pistons don't belong at all.

i think i've explained my reasoning for my post well enough already. if you want to make your own, feel free skitch, i'm sorry i didn't consider the Pistons two very separate stretches of relevance when making my jovial timeline.

You mean like the 21 years between 1987 and 2008?

As a non-East/West coast guy and more of a casual fan, I would definitely include the Pistons in the "historically relevant" club, especially the "Bad Boy" teams. The 2000's teams with Rip and Rasheed and that whole crew are definitely very relevant too.

they won a title in the 2000's, thats it. that would be like saying if the hawks won a title they would be relevant. they wouldnt be.

and the knicks are just as relevant as the pistons (aside from winning a title) as anyone else in the east from the 90s

If you are in a discussion about relevant teams in a specific time period, and you have a team that won a title, appeared in multiple finals, and spent more than half a decade in the conference finals, then It doesn't matter if its atlanta, golden state or detroit.

and you do know the Bulls are in the East, and were in the 90's, right?

So I see Captain Kirk is headed back to Chicago. Color me impressed. Watson/Brewer gone for sure......maybe Korver. Still not sure if the Bulls intend to match the Asik offer.

Bulls are going to go 41 and 41 next year......

Are they even considering matching that insane Asik offer?

As crazy as it would be to match the Turkish Sex God's off from the Rockets.....yes. Its very much a damned if they do damned if they don't situation. Still, I would rather not pay a backup center that money when it is obvious he will never develop an offensive game.

Right. It's a tough one because it's obviously an insane contract for a backup center. But he's such a good back up center that you hate to let him walk. They really don't miss a beat when Noah goes out and that's a great luxury.
