So... yeah, pretty good game last night if you like defense.
beat Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, RG3 etc... this year. Nah, they haven't played anybody.
8 interceptions versus Manning and Brees, this beat up secondary is vastly underrated.
I'd counter with the fact they got 5 INTs off of Brees and could still only put up 23 points at home against a shitty defense
I'm still betting on almost anyone who goes into Atlanta come round 2
That's a fine opinion, since they've not won in the playoffs despite being a dominant regular season team for the past 5 seasons and they aren't very solid on either line of scrimmage....yet they continue to win.
Who is really that good this year? Chicago's offense is horrible. Green Bay can't stop anyone. San Fran has no clue what thier offense is going to do from one week to the next, The Giants usually get right by the playoffs but just lost to RG3 and they are in the worst division in football this year other than maybe the AFC west.
The Seahawks have a rookie QB and an absolute nutcase for a head coach. The Falcons are something like 34-3 in the Georgia Dome in the last 5 years.
Matt Ryan has had a fairly similar career to Eli Manning despite not performing in the largest media market. People doubted them too until David Tyree caught a ball against his helmet. Now people begrudgingly accept that Eli is pretty freaking good having won two superbowls.
So everyone keeps saying Atlanta is not this and not that and "who have they beaten?" Who have they not beaten? They have beaten every team on thier schedule this year.

My updated Power Rankings...this is based part on regular season performance and my projection for playoff success:
NFC 1. 49ers/Atlanta (I love that Niners defense and I don't trust ATL till they win in the playoffs) 3. Green Bay (They have perhaps the best QB in the game)
AFC 1. Texans (Best team in the NFL) 2. Patriots (Amazingly, they have the No. 2 seed for now in a crazy tiebreaker) 3. Broncos (Charging up a mountain at full speed - very dangerous - love Manning)
There are so many stupid, lazy people in this world. In this case, many apparently worked on that Lions calendar.
It reminds me of one of my favorite promos for 2012 Tigers Season Tickets that aired repeatedly at the end of the 2011 season with Brennan Boesch homering....off Doug Fister.
Goodell floats novel idea for replacing kickoffs Posted by Mike Florio on December 6, 2012, 10:01 AM EST
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has landed on the cover of TIME magazine. The accompanying article contains plenty of interesting nuggets.
Here’s the first one that caught our eye.
Sean Gregory of TIME writes that one of the options being considered for replacing kickoffs entails giving the ball to the team that would have been kicking off at its own 30, automatically facing a fourth down and 15 yards to go. The team can then choose to punt or go for it, via fake punt or otherwise.
In other words, the kickoff would be replaced with the punt, and the onside kick would be replaced with a fourth-down conversion roughly half the distance of Ray Rice’s recent catch-and-run.
The idea would be to remove completely the high-speed, open-field collisions between large men who dip their heads instinctively at impact and place extra pressure on the C3-C4 area of the spine. While other injuries would be possible during the punt play that replaces the kickoff, the risk of catastrophic injury would be reduced.
The move also would make punters, long snappers, and gunners more important, along with punt returners. In turn, kickoff specialists would become extinct, and return specialists who are much better returning kicks than punts would be far less valuable to the broader roster.
Goodell says the idea came from Bucs coach Greg Schiano. The fact that Goodell mentioned to Gregory it means that the league is at least considering it — and that the league perhaps wants to see how folks react to the possibility.

Matt Ryan has always sucked once the games become big going back to his days at BC. Green Bay might not be able to stop anyone, but I'd still bet on them over Atlanta, because I doubt Atlanta can stop them. The Giants losing to RG III is not exactly shameful, especially when the Falcons have beaten such juggernauts as the Panthers, Raiders and Cardinals (and not when the Cardinals were actually playing reasonably well either) by 3-4 pts each. Not to mention I could make the argument that the only reason the Falcons beat Washington was because RG III got hurt which changed that entire game.
"Not being that solid on either line of scrimmage" is going to hurt against defenses like the Giants, 49ers or Bears.
The one team I wouldn't bet on is Seattle because they suck on the road.

Here’s your initial chance to react.
I can't even begin to describe how stupid that sounds
This 3-game end of the world winning streak the Browns are on right now (over some pretty bad teams) is frustrating in that it makes me think of the other games they coughed up and should have won this year (Philly, Dallas, one of the Baltimore games).

This is a done deal.
