Early thoughts from the first NFL preseason game:
--The Saints' defense might be depleted from the bounty scandal but that offense looks like it's going to continue to roll. They could easily play the same "fuck you" card the 2007 Patriots played.
--Kevin Kolb continues to suck and be injury prone. The Cards need to name Skelton the starter already.
--The scabs have been disgraceful in this game. Pay the officials, NFL.

I'm just really excited for football season and the Red Zone. This has got to be the best era of NFL football.

I agree with those above...this season we're gonna get inspired "Fuck You" performances from the Saints. It will be great to watch.

I betcha even Peyton might have a little "Fuck You" in him, too, but that's a stretch. Hey, maybe he'll find some balls in Denver.

The Detroit Lions will be lucky to be 9-7.

It will be the Bears and the Steelers in February.

Will there be a separate official's room for the female official in Thursday night's game?

So.... Kenny Britt is really not doing anything for those with degrees from the State University of New Jersey.

Something tells me he's going to get cut, and then cry about loyalty. Then somewhere long in the future he'll be a speaker at the rookie symposium trying to get a job in the NFL at 35.

Man, I'm so glad the Chiefs took him 11th overall so the Broncos didn't get tempted.

Quote:
Woe is Poe

Almost from the start of training camp, coach Romeo Crennel has tried to downplay expectations for rookie nose tackle Dontari Poe, the Chiefs first-round draft pick. Crennel put that in his strongest terms yet on Wednesday when asked what Poe needs to improve on in order to get more playing time.

“A lot,” Crennel said. “He needs to work on technique, he needs to work on understanding the system, he needs to get the calls correct all the time. He’s got a ways to go.”

Anthony Toribio, who spent all of last season on the practice squad, remains as the starting nose tackle ahead of Poe on the depth chart. Poe enters the lineup on obvious passing downs when the Chiefs use their nickel defense.

Poe acknowledged the difficulty of adjusting to the NFL game.

“It’s all different,” he said. “The technique of it, there’s nothing the same about the college level. The only thing the same is that it’s football. As far as the speed level and the strength and all that, you’ve got to learn it all over again.

“I still have a ways to go but I’m getting better every day. I’m just trying to do what I can, trying to do everything they teach me.”

You know from a fantasy point of view, I had drafted him in the 7th round last year, and after those first two games I thought, "Whoa. This guy is going to be something else."

What a tragedy. I really do hope he turns it around.

I don't get where the Bears became the ultimate trendy pick.
