The Mars Volta have confirmed that they will release their sixth studio LP this year. The band, who had previously hinted that they would put out a new album in 2012, will release "Noctourniquet" on March 26. Previously, The Mars Volta's guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López had said that the follow-up to 2009's "Octahedron" would mark the end of an era in the band's songwriting, stating: "I want to collaborate more. I've had 10 years of kind of being a benign dictator in this band and I want to make it more like a democracy." Last week, Rodríguez-López and The Mars Volta singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala confirmed that they had reformed their former band At The Drive-In. The group split in 2001 at the height of their popularity after the release of their "Relationship Of Command" album, with the remaining three members going on to form the band Sparta. The newly-reunited group are now set to play this spring's Coachella festival. The tracklisting for "Noctourniquet" is as follows: 01. The Whip Hand 02. Aegis 03. Dyslexicon 04. Listened to Deloused yesterday. Still an amazing album. Even though Octahedron was their weakest, at least IMO, I'm still excited for this. |

De-loused is badass, even more so than the rest. I really like Octahedron. Probably the one I put on most often. Seems like good change of pace from the rest of their stuff, if not quite as adventurous. I think Frances is at the bottom of the list for me I think all their albums are really solid, so I'm expecting to enjoy this quite a bit. |

There's going to be a lot of hate. I like it. Got some nice grooves in the mayhem. It's a pretty awful rip though. Should clean up a bit once proper leak comes. |

This album is really good. I hated the single but in the context of the album I kind of enjoy it now. |
