I've tried sampling some of this guy's previous stuff, none of it stuck to me, the quirkier aspects were a slight turnoff. In the interest of respecting the threadmaker, though, I gave Sifters a shot. It was quite a nice song, very pretty and well done. I'm parsing through the rest of the album now, the 1st track is very cool too. I guess this guy deserves more of a shot. This is the only reason I know him, besides the fact that he is always playing in my town Providence RI. He did some nice violin work on Kristin Hersh's album The Grotto back in '03: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sV6DaHJ6Kfk |

I've only heard "The Mysterious Production of Eggs." I liked it okay, but thought it kind of meandered through a lot of pomp without ever really stumbling upon much of a tune. Bird's disaffected, rangeless voice didn't help much, either. How does his post-"Eggs" material compare? |

"Noble Beast" is REALLY good. I thought "Armchair" started great, then meandered big time. |

The second half is soooo much better than the first. In fact, it might be the best half of his career. |
