Not for me. There were some bright spots but by the halfway point I wasn't really engaged with it. I'll give it more listens when I can pay attention, but my first impression is that I won't like it as much as Red of Tooth and Claw.

yeah but that was my first impression of red tooth in comparison to bocca as well, the songs these guys write have a tendency to really sneak up on you suddenly and the stuff you think is filler at first (dynamite mine, organ grinder, rum brave, steal away etc for me) becomes your favorites. i really like the way he sings the verses of that first proper song, i'd like to hear more of that in the future.

KENTUCKY BOURBON

There are many choices in this life
That we don't get to make
Like who's your pa, and where your from
And when the leaves are down it's time to rake

But you can choose your drinking partner
And mine ain't from Tennessee
Yes, it's straight Kentucky bourbon for me
Oh yes, it's sweet Kentucky bourbon for me

AS LONG AS THERE WHISKEY IN THE WORLD

I've been down on my luck
Been down, too long this time
I drank up to the bottom
Til i found myself there too
And the taste of defeat
Has never been so sweet
So i pour another glass
and fail again and again

I've been down
And i've been higher than sears tower
i asked the higher powers
if they could just spare a drink
did they answer my cries?
i was a bit preocupied
i toasted them and boasted to them
the day they met their match

but as long as there is whiskey in the world
we can drink away the harvest
we can drink away the girls
we'll fall in love with an amber touch
as long as there is whiskey in the world

i have loved
and i've lost all that they gave me
they all try to save me
but i'm seeing this thing though
and these feelings of remorse
they leave me no recourse
so i pour another glass
and fail again and again

but as long as there is whiskey in the world
we can drink away the harvest
we can drink away the girls
we'll fall in love with an amber touch
as long as there is whiskey in the world

i don't want to be saved

as long as there is whiskey in the world
as long as there is whiskey in the world
as long as there is whiskey
as long as there is whiskey
as long as there is whiskey in the world

some songs from this album make me think about: beer, irish pubs, whiskey, somewhere between 1700-1820

I saw them open for Clutch in 2008. Very good overall. A few sound problems, but that probably wasn't their fault.
