That could be a very nice album. Let's hope it sees the light of day and preferably this year.

If it does come together, it'll probably not be in album form.

Well, if we see it in some format that would be cool. Bit of a bummer of an article though.

Got second row for the show in Buenos Aires. Psyched beyond belief.

give yourself some credit.

You have the same color hair, probably same color facial hair and cross paths in musical interests as well..

Sure am, friend. But this thread is about Elvis Costello, not about my height.

Second time. Saw him in a festival about 5 years ago, also with the Imposters. Great show, but too short and the sound wasn't too great.

I've been corresponding with Steve and Davey for a while and might be hanging out with the band that evening. If that happens, and if I get to shake hands with the man, my life will be complete.

Also the show is on the weekend of my birthday, and it so happens to coincide with the Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival, so... to say I'm looking forward to that week is an understatement. Naturally, something catastrophic is bound to happen to put a damper on things.

I'll be extremely jealous if you get to meet Elvis, and I'm already slightly jealous that you're corresponding with his band members. I once told Colin Meloy that he should try and find a way to work the word "bollocks" onto a Decemberists album (a suggestion he's yet to deliver on, the asshole), but that's as close as I've come to meeting any of my musical heroes. Unless you count meeting Jerry Cantrell in the local Hooters, wherein he inhaled helium from a nearby balloon and sang "We Represent the Lollipop Guild" to a child in our party, promptly scaring the crap out of her. Which I suppose I do.

This is my second Elvis show too, by the way. But unlike yours, my first was great beyond words. It was just Elvis and Steve on the North Tour in 2004, and they played for what seemed like 4-5 hours, debuting material off "Delivery Man" and playing four very meaty encores. I'm very stoked to witness the "Spinning Songbook" thing, which Pitchfork says the Chicago show is, though Ticketmaster made no mention of it.

Aw, I would've loved to see the "North" tour.

My show was fun, but it was very much a festival show-- greatest-hits setlist, less-than-stellar sound, 90 minutes in length.

Davey and Steve are two incredibly cool cats. So is Pete, but a little less approachable, I feel. Davey in particular is extremely down-to-earth and friendly, always happy to chat and trade mp3s of obscure blues songs about murder (sounds more grim than it is).

Steve is a real class act. He sent me a package containing all his solo work after I complained I couldn't find it anywhere in Buenos Aires, with a very nice handwritten note.

If I do end up getting up the courage to take Davey up on his offer and meet the guys, I'll report back here with pictures.
