Hahahahahahaha, you're so silly.
Meh, Pitchfork doesn't know shit. They gave A Ghost is Born a 6 and I think its one of the best albums of the year.

A Ghost Is Born isn't that good of an album. Tweedy and Co. could have done without the ridiculous feedback on Less Than You Think. This album is less than I thought.

OK, I've been listening to it on-and-off for a few weeks and I really like A Ghost Is Born. When I'm in the mood for something on the mellow side, WILCO seems to satisfy.
defintely. it took me a few weeks to get into A Ghost is Born but now I really like it.

You can't go wrong at all with Wilco. I love all of their albums, but for starters you can't go wrong with Being There, especially since it's a 2 disc for the price of 1 set and it shows their transition from country rock to albums like AGIB and YFH.

being there or summerteeth, whichever's cheaper. they're quite different albums, but both very, very, very good.
AM is good as well, but there's certainly a few missteps here and there. Their first record, so i guess you could say things were still developing or something?
and then you'll need to start hunting down the uncle tupelo catalog, and don't forget the mermaid ave. records, and...

So I've listened to Summerteeth, A Ghost is Born, and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
I put extra emphasis on listening to YHF. And I just don't see the big attraction to it. I want to like it, everybody and their brother hails Wilco, and especially YHF as a masterpiece, but I just don't see it. Today I listened to YHF twice, back to back. And the only songs that I find particularly wonderful are the first and last tracks. Reservation in my opinion seems to be the only song of true worth. And when I listen to three records collectively, "At Least That's What You Said," is the only track that strikes me as astounding, and I think that is just because of the outro.
I don't know why I'm off the ball here. Is this a band that I need to listen to a few times like a Neutral Milk Hotel, or a Guided by Voices? As I listen to it, the vocalist seems dull, listless, boring, and lacks any sort of power. The instrumentals, although creative in nature, seem misplaced.
The only thing I seem to equate to Wilco is Sparklehorse in the oddity aspect of it. Ya know, the strange instruments and oddball samples... I just keep thinking...don't ask me why, but of all the bands in the world to compair Wilco to, Sparklehorse pops to mind, and in my opinion, Sparklehorse is much better in all aspects. Better song writing, more originality, and the oddball instruments always seem perfectly placed in Sparklehorse tunes.
Am I the only one with this Sparklehorse - Wilco connection?
