I listened to Strays a couple of weeks ago after not listening to it for about 4 years, and I was surprised with how good it sounded. Still, it's nowhere near as great Nothing's Shocking and Ritual, which are definitely two of the best alternative rock albums ever.

Strays sounds like Jane's Addiction covering Jane's Addiction. It has all the elements, but none of the mystery and none of the passion. It's just an empty sounding record.

When I get a hankerin' for some Jane's, I'm probably more likely to throw on the XXX album than anything else.

i'm a fan, though i don't believe there's nearly enough material or fans for a tourney.
i haven't listened to these guys in ages. just don't have the motivation to ever do that these days beyond a track or two.
strays was listenable, i guess.

Listened to it tonight for the first time in many years and you're right, when it opens up, there's nothing like it. Not to be soppy but felt joy in music that I haven't felt in years. It's perfect and it sounds huge. You're right there in it. Such a great song.
