Are you guys seriously comparing Yes to King Crimson. The gay band that sang "Roundabout" and that stupid Lonely Heart song has nothing on King Crimson. In the Court of the Crimson King is badass. Yes is nerd music. |

Close to the Edge is good, but yeah, start with the Yes Album, which might be better than Close To The Edge. And I'd say Tales From Topographic Oceans is better than both of those, but absolutely do not start with that one. |

I just got a major ass whooping by Fracture. Now I remember why I love this band so much. |

While I agree that Yes's s/t is massively under appreciated, Court of the Crimson King deserves all the appreciation it gets. If not more. 21st Century Schizoid Man still blows me away to this day, and Epitaph is probably one of the greatest songs ever written. |

I've been sick and listening to this band obsessively for the past couple of days A few observations: 1. Starless and Bible Black might be my favorite album 2. Court of the Crimson King would be perfect if that instrumental outro on Moonshine wasn't total garbage 3. Larks' Tongues is epic 4. Starless has a really weird flow/consistency to it, the combined live improvs and instrumentals make them seem awkward but somehow it works 5. Discipline is a great record and a really good progression but ultimately not as satisfying as their best 70s work 6. I just got Wake of Poseidon On a related note, the Fripp/Eno collaborations are freakin' rad. |

I am currently revisiting every King Crimson record in order, got through In the Court of the Crimson King and In the Wake of Poseidon yesterday. I've recently been on something of KC kick and decided I would revisit some old favourites and cover some gaps in my knowledge in a comprehensive way, I'm looking forward to it. |

I'm scared to death of going deeper down King Crimson's path. It could potentially ruin me for a long, long time. One day, Spencer. One day. |

Make sure you get the surround sound 40th anniversary editions... Those are definitely worth having. You at least need Islands in that format. |

I've heard very good things about those surround mixes, but I've got no way of listening to them currently. The new stereo mixes on the recent reissues are fantastic, I'm happy enough with those for the time being. |

Yeah, probably worth it to get the 40th anniversary editions anyhow, and then you'll have the 5.1 mix if you ever get a surround sound system later on. |

i don't know how this ranks among the KC oeuvre but i quite enjoy it. in my opinion, despite the fact that this band is Fripp's baby, i have a hard time accepting it since Bruford is gone. their 90s ouput was also pretty fucking good, albeit a tad too self-revisiting/congratulating and Beatley: |
