Okaaaay, so which album should i start with? I saw a video for Falling Slowly today and wasn't overblown, but i'm sure i'm probably missing out on something..so, i need a starting point...

Would you really be judging a band on a ropey video (not a format they are enamoured with at all.) that you see online? If you go to http://www.theframes.ie and go to the music page, you can listen to most of their stuff.
If you read the thread it's fairly obvious the way to go is
1. For the Birds-Their best one IMO and many others with real taste in music..if you like reverb on drums go to no. 3.)

2. Setlist-the live record. One of the most engaging & geuinely good live records you're ever gonna hear. A compilation of their 'hits' & a brilliant showcase for how the quieter stuff (eg.FTB) take on a different life in a live setting.

3. Dance the Devil - the 'hits' ('stars are underground', 'pavement tune', '7 day mile' (this one is a litle brother to Pj's 'dead man'), 'star, star', 'perfect opening line', 'Rent day Blues')

4. Burn the Maps-Only warming up to this one now weirdly...the original plan was for BTM & the Cost to be a double album..it'd have been better i think..Not a Cost fan at all excepting 'people all get ready'

5. Fitzcarraldo - the real 'hits' ('revelate' & 'fitzcarraldo' are on this one. If the Frames had flagship tunes like Pj have 'Alive', it would be these two songs no doubt about it.)

Bear in mind, not once have this band ever managed to really capture 'what they do'...they are very much more to be experienced in a live setting and once you've done that, the records become precious to you.
The Frames, have a lot in common with Pj
-They are way way better in a live setting..i've never heard of anyone leaving not blown away.
-They're best songs NEVER end up on the albums.
-They change the setlist relentlessly.
-They cover a whole buncha other people songs, often playing better versions than the original artists themselves.
-Mainly? they fuckin' rock.

Go have fun & let us know how you get on yeah?

this is frames related..

Hey,
a lot of you guys will be really into this.

Other Voices makes US debut - March 10, 2008 @ 01:55:56

Presented - once again - by John Kelly, who is joined this year by RTÉ 2fm's Jenny Huston, the sixth series of RTÉ Two's 'Other Voices' includes performances from Ryan Adams, Cathy Davey, Ray Davies, David Gray, Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, Daniel Lanois, Sinéad O'Connor and many others.

In November and December 2007, over 30 Irish and international acts descended on the small - but world-famous - Kerry town of Dingle to take part in the most celebrated rock music event of the year. Once again, 'Other Voices' brought together musicians from a variety of backgrounds, traditions and disciplines to celebrate different sounds and styles of music and voices.

Legends, rockers and young pretenders gathered for the two-weekend event, a diversity of musical expressions and energy, barely contained within the walls of the atmospheric 200-year-old Church of St James.

Other Voices will be broadcasting on Rave HD (a US HD channel) with the first episode of season 6 airing 14 March 2008 at 8pm. The channel is Rave HD which is part of the Voom HD network available on Cablevision’s iO digital cable platform and Echostar’s. Hope that makes sense to those who live there!

For a taste, go here..if you go to the archived shows tab & scroll down through them, there's some really freat bands you can watch in there..Rufus Wainwright, Ryan Adams, Damien Rice (ugh)

yeah... The Cost, while having a handful of great songs, is quite a ways down the line in terms of their catalog...

Dance The Devil
Fitzcarraldo
For The Birds

then The Cost and Burn The Maps

Setlist is brilliant tho too

For The Birds is their best all around album, and certainly the best sounding Frames record, but Devil & Fitz have the highest % of my favorite all-time Frames songs

I'd try to have him sign on the wheel's whitewalls, as if it were the tire brand's imprint. I think that'd be cool.

Also, that link got cut between when you pasted it and when it posted.
