I didn't have too many issues with it. What was so painful for you?

With Josh being in both bands (as well as Dave on the kit for SFTD) and being the only permanent member of Queens (which offers stylistic variances with each record anyway), I guess I don't understand why people would prefer one record over the other...

Any thoughts?

QOTSA and TCV are different

Call me crazy, but i personally think the TCV debut is better than anything QOTSA ever did. Not saying that QOTSA is bad or anything, just saying that this is some of the strongest songwriting any of them have done in quite awhile.

Oh and fuck FF. They dont exist anymore as far as im concerned anyway.

Its an incredible album, but TCV is a juggernaut.

I can't imagine why anyone would think this album or band sucks. They might not always be flawless live, but they're not that far off the mark, and the studio album is incredible.

The quality of the last three QOTSA albums in terms of songwriting has been a slow decent. The creativity peaked with Songs, Lullabies had some good tracks but lots of filler, and same for Era Vulgaris. Same goes for Dave's writing.

Its nice to see Josh with a rejuvenated sense of creativity.

This band is unreal, and you honestly can't truly understand that until you see them live. The sheer force of the sound they create trounces any other modern rock band today.

Maybe but on record and video of live shows, I am unimpressed.

I disagree. The last few weeks I've come to the realization that the album is the best(my favorite) rock album to come along in probably 10 years. As a rabid music fan and somebody that tries to make their own music it's been an amazingly rewarding album. I agree they are brilliant, but that can easily be gathered from their album.

There's so many riffs and brilliant musical moments that you can almost forget that the album is a perfect musical journey.

JPJ has gotta be pleased after gettin slighted by Page and Plant those years and now he finally makes a big mainstream musical statement and completely pisses all over their solo work.

They're playing a fest in England that weekend. Obviously that doesn't necessarily preclude them from participating in Bonnaroo, but it doesn't give me much hope they'll be there.

oh, that is why they are listing june 11 - 13 on their site? the dates are listed, but nothing is next to it. my first assumption was bonnaroo.

Perhaps I chose the wrong words. For someone who doesn't like this band, maybe seeing them live would change their mind. If you already like the band, seeing them live only reinforces your admiration.

I agree with the comment about JPJ. After the Zep reunion tour idea fell apart, lots of fans are using this band to get their fix and its great to see him get a chance to shine in the spotlight.

Crowds just adore what JPJ is doing live.
