The rock critic Greil Marcus recently mentioned Sleater-Kinney as a modern artist whose work most closely matched that of Bob Dylan. "They also have the huge sound, and the ability to make music that makes me hear something new every time. Their talent is just gigantic," said Marcus, in a Portland Tribune interview. High praise for a band that can only grow more deserving.
In Europe, the ladies will also release a single on May 16. "Entertain" includes two B-Sides--"Everything", which was recorded during album sessions with producer Dave Fridmann, and a live version of "The Fox" (the original recorded version is the opening track to The Woods.)

Are the B-sides pretty raw?
j.
"Everything" is definitely more raw than their last couple of albums. Some fuzzy guitars. Production-wise, it sounds like "Entertain." The second B-side, "The Fox," is a very raw live recording. Corin's vocals become distorted at a couple points because she sings so loudly, but it sounds good.

I just listened to Entertain. It was alright...the drummer is the best thing about the band by far, the guitar was alright, and the vocals (especially in the chorus) were less than appealing. I'll listen more.

Got my tickets for the Philly show today. So excited. Anyone else going?

the album is good...but one of the songs has a huge jam that either the quality of the stream makes sound terrible or carrie is just playing completely out of key and not in a hendrix sort of way. its like shes just hitting random notes and bending them...however i love the rest of the album.
