Probably their third best album opener, featuring a 10/10 solo from JP. Apparently there's some sort of sexual innuendo in the song's lyrics but I can't place it. Eating custard pie seems completely innocent to me. Bonham's crash @ 3:41? That's sexual.

I heard them playing In My Time of Dying from Celebration Day at my local record store and it sounded pretty good. I wonder how much post performance touch up work was done on this album though?

Supposedly very little to none. I thought IMToD was one of the weaker tracks. Page just never takes off

Oh right. It sounded okay in the middle of the shop on my lunch break but it's probably not the best place to judge

The mix is a little off too in my opinion. I think I was more bothered by Page's guitar tone. I miss that tone he had in the 70s, which had little effects on top. The first few songs of "Celebration Day" have Page's guitar loaded with reverb and chorus which I didn't like. I understand he was trying to make up for the band only having one guitarist, but he did fine in the 70s with minimal guitar effects. As the show goes on I find, he finds a better balance for guitar tone.
On the other hand, JPJ shows up a lot more on the footage than in previous Zep videos, which tickled me. I always loved seeing more JPJ.
Not bad for a first time in 20 something years show!

On a lot of the previous live stuff, the guitar was beefed up with studio effects after the fact. See "Achilles Last Stand" from "DVD" for example. The raw performance doesn't sound like that.

I know, the raw performance (from bootlegs) sound fine also. I was just saying I'm not a fan of the guitar tone Page used in the reunion show.
