I love this band. I never thought they would top "the '59 Sound" but I think they may have. I've been listening to this non stop since last Friday. All I want to do is listen to it.
45 is amazing. great lyrics. Handwritten - same thing. Too Much Blood - best on the album? National Anthem is sweet. Teenage Rebellion should be on the regular version, not just the Delux.
The only thing I don;t like is the you got lucky cover. I skip it.
Man, there is no way that this album is better than '59 Sound.

American Slang was my introduction to Gaslight , so I love it.
Everytime I listen to Handwritten I keep thinking this is the album Backspacer was trying to be. A little poppier than in the past but still with a rock or punk edge.

give it a listen....
It's not even in the same league. There are some good moments but overall the album as a whole is not that strong.

Got to see these guys live on Monday and Tuesday with Rise Against. They killed it both nights. Keepsake is just as amazing live as the studio version, and they played Changing of the Guards, which sounded great.

Too Much Blood may be stuck in the 90's a little bit, but I really love that song.
I'll go with 45 as my favorite track however. It's just so damn catchy. I can listen to it on a Monday and still be "catching you on the flipside" for the rest of the week.

I love the album. It is no 59 sound. But it really is good. I made my own track listing and took a song or two out from the deluxe. 1. Handwritten, just great, love the lyrics " travels from heart, to limb, to pen" 2. Here comes my man - Great song 3. Mulholland Drive - Fav on album right now 4. Keepsake - good 5. To Much Blood - another good one 6. Howl - good quick upbeat song 7. Biloxi Parish - better live, but great 8. Mae - Good opener to concert, reminds me of a slower opener like pearl jam does 9. National Anthem - Great, I love the slow stripped down songs 10. Teenage Rebellion - Have no clue why on deluxe version, should've been regular release. 11. 45 - I moved this to the back, just because it has alot of handwritten sound to it, and those to back to back I think dont really work. So I end the album on a great note.

No 'Desire'? That's one of my favorites...
Yep.
Mulholland Drive, Desire and Keepsake
I'm going to have to go back and give Desire a couple listens again. Just recently I re listened to the few I took off of American Slang and one was Orphans. After I thought, how could I have left that off, its so good! So I do go back and after some time and re listen to and give a new ear on the songs.
